Game 39: Rangers @ Leafs - Apr. 8, 7:00pm - Sportsnet, Fan 590

Holding? Really?

And, as much as I appreciate the Leafs getting the PP (and the goal), that looked more like incidental contact than a penalty to me. Do it like you mean it or don't do it at all strikes again.

Yeah that was terrible too.

First time in 10 games a team has scored 3 on Lundqvist?  Slump busterrrrrs.

That was pure power from Nash.

Not exactly sure why Reimer decided to stay standing up with his legs wide open on that play.  Seems like he might have been better off getting down and trying to take away the post/through the crease play.

I thought the same thing.  I guess maybe he was surprised Nash was able to cut in there?  I don't know.

That would be my guess.  He got flabbastalized.

Dion, let me introduce you to something called the wrist shot.  Why does Phaneuf need to wind up on every single shot he takes?

He doesn't.  He's taken at least one wrist/snap shot this period - but I agree he shouldn't have wound up on that one.  Had no chance of getting it through.

Creative storytelling.  He doesn't always do it, but he seems to have a number of plays like that where he has a guy closing in on him and rather than taking the smart play he winds up and gives the defense that extra split second to get a stick on the puck.  He needs to be smarter with his shot selection.  His wrist shot is actually pretty good.  I wish that he used it a little more to be honest.  His slap shot is deadly when it is on target but it tends to be wild.

I think the Rangers were JVR's favourite team growing up.

Kessel continues to slump.

About time the guy scored a PP goal.  Glad he listened to my admonition.

MacLean was right on 2 things there: Mac has been doing a lot of intangibles like puck support, but even more important are all the short passes.  That's something we could never seem to do all these last years.

I tell you, it's been a helluva lot more fun watching this team this year than in the past 7-8 combined.

By Rick Nash cutting inside? He may need to watch more tape.

You watch as much tape as you want of that freight train comin' at you while your car is stuck on the tracks.  It won't help.

Imaginative myth-making.  I would guess he attempts more shots than other D on the team, so it seems that way.  I don't think his shots get disrupted by the opposition at any greater frequency than other D's shots get blocked or otherwise.  I'm assuming there probably aren't reliable stats to know for sure, though.
