Game 39 - Tampa Bay Lightning vs Toronto Maple Leafs W7-3

Connolly penalty was a poor call I think but they got it right with Schenn... Rather boneheadish of him, I'd say.

What is it with refs and the Leafs this year? It's absolutely astounding!

As much as I agree with the refs you have to call that. Uncalled for. You don't do that sh*t when your already down.

I have a bottle of Dom Perignon I've had for over 12 years.  I have been waiting for the right time to pop it, if the Leafs kill this I just may uncork it.

Don't aim the cork at anything breakable!

Decent enough first period bar the silly penalties (warranted or not).

Early standouts - Lupul, Kadri and Gustavsson, with a bit of a props to Boyce for that shot block.

Big defensive plays by Steckel and Boyce on the 5 on 3.

Phaneuf continues to wander into no-man's land and leave guys wide open in front of the net on the PK.  He hasn't been burned by it yet tonight but it is maddening.

Well to me it was marginal. Seen live it looked like Downie was roaring in and would deserve the elbow. Seen on a reply he didn't look that threatening so you're right in this case.

I actually think it was the other way around. What Schenn got called for goes uncalled a dozen times a game, whereas Connolly clearly had his elbow up on Downie (even if it was a defensive reaction on his part).

Maybe. I do think Connolly was trying to protect himself... and just because what Schenn did often goes uncalled, it doesn't make it right.

Oh boy...Fins choked it up again. They let the Swedes tie it up in the third and then lose in the shootout. Ouchie....

Well if you seen how they were allowed to tie it up.... :o Less than 2 minutes left and a Swedish shoot-in. Fin goalie tries to shoot it around and hands it to a Swede who shoots it in the empty net.

Corner turning game!

We've been on this corner forever.  Do I go with a NASCAR joke or a lady of the night reference?

As long as they remain on the track they're turning a corner even in NASCAR!

The optimist in me say the Bolts are 0-3 on the PP due to some great work by the Leafs on the PK.

The pessimist in me says the Bolts are due to score on the PP probably late in the game when it's tied. :(

Even as we speak the citizens of Finland are racing out of their saunas and throwing themselves into icy lakes in utter despair.

Oh wait, they'd be doing that anyway.

Neither does Connolly trying to protect himself. What Schenn did was much closer to the borderline of what is and isn't a roughing penalty. What Connolly did was clearly an elbow, defensive or not.

I love how active Gustavsson played on the PK there.  He was sharp in following the puck.

Ok I'll bite...the lady of the evening reference intrigues me. Most of what I've tried to guess would be correctly banned from this site.

Yeah, but even the most disciplined of guys might get there arms up in the Connolly situation.
