Game 4 - Colorado Avalanche vs Toronto Maple Leafs OTL3-2

No offense but with a PP that bad they do not deserve to win this game, and bodes very horribly going forward. It's starting to look like Phil Kessel and a team of Joey Crabbs.

man both those goals were just bad on Reimers part, I'm starting to worry

Having just seen the replay again, I'm pretty convinced he didn't get a good look at the shot on the first one. The second one, however, he should have had.

I think we can all agree that this team will go nowhere unless they get some kind of PP going.  Now, the fact that we haven't had a good one ever since Wilson has been the coach is pure coincidence.

How dare you question our 40-game veteran goalie?

Damn right. You can take those doubts and go read Matthew chapter 14. Then do something productive say a prayer for the 3rd period.

The last 3 goals he's let in have been pretty odourous...

The Leafs had to bury their earlier chances and failed to. Reimer's not been great this game, but no one has outside of Kessel.

I don't understand why they don't change it up. Put Steckel or Dupuis out to get in front of the opposition goalie and shoot pucks. Pretty much how Colorado just scored on their PP, actually.

LOL did you see Crabb's toe drag and backhand goal for the Marlies on the weekend?  At this point he might be an improvement on anybody except Kessel, Grabovski and Lupul.

What does any of that have to do with Reimer letting in bad goals?

I don't know how many times one of us has advocated something like that.  It just makes too much sense I guess.  I would try Steckel taking attacking-zone draws and then park him in front.

I think the point is: it's a team sport.

Good news is that both Kessel and Lupul look really good (the latter, especially, is skating really well and making a lot of smart plays).  The bad news is that most of the rest of the team is invisible.  Schenn, in particular, has been extremely shaky so far this season--shades of last season's Komi.

It's only two goals. Jesus it's not like it's 8-1. I'm saying these things happen, your goaltender isn't going to play 100% all the time and the team has to be ready to sometimes play well for the goaltender.

Reimer can shut the door the rest of the game and the team will lose more for an inept powerplay and bone dry offense rather than Reimer letting in two goals, bad goals or not.

Yeah, but there's only one goalie.

If the Avs win this they will have swept a 5-game road trip, I believe.  That would be damnably impressive.  4-1 on a road trip would just be impressively impressive.

Connolly and Kadri would both help on the PP. The should have Kessel on the left side with Phanuef on the right point and Liles on the left. Second PP should be Frattin where Kessel is with Franson of left and Gunner on right.

Yeah, but there's only one goalie.

True. And he's at a distinct disadvantage when it comes to scoring the 2+ goals we need to win this game.
