Game 4: Islanders at Leafs - LeafsTV 7:00 PM

Well that was a weak call from the refs.  That play happens about 50 times a game.

Thought the Grabbo penalty which turned this game around was even weaker than the kadri call.

I suppose you could offer the excuse that this is 4 games in 6 nights, but to collapse -- at home -- after dominating the first period?  That's plain hard to excuse.

All it took was one lame penalty and a little cockiness/trying too hard to make something happen on the PK, and they lost their grip on the game.

Yes, and truth be told Scrivens should have had that PP goal.  I think we can relegate the fact that he outplayed Reimer in camp to the Land of Meaningless Facts.

They score when Tavares is down. What a terrible, terrible game overall. They need to go back to the drawing board.

Seriously, what are we supposed to do with goaltending like this?  There's no way this team can ever maintain confidence if they can't make any mistakes without it going in.

Bail them out for once, jeez.

What the one where the odd-man rush ended with a guy all alone 10ft straight out who had time to stick-handle before shooting?  That's the one I blame him for the least.

Make no mistake I think bad goaltending was a huge part of blowing this game, but not really that one.

Yeah, that's the very one.  Make a save, Scrivens.

I wasn't overly impressed by Scrivens with the Marlies even before this season started. From what I saw he was very inconsistent and had more than a few softies on him there even with the generally solid numbers. It's not surprising that it's been very much the same with the Leafs thus far.

This is the thing, the goalie is rarely the sole person responsible for a goal against, but just because they can't get all the 'blame', they are (arguably) the most important position on the ice and as such need to make more than just the easiest saves.
