Game 42: Buffalo Sabres vs Toronto Maple Leafs W2-0

it's last year all over again ..how great would it be to have kulemin and grabovski back to the way they were playing for the second half ..

... with the proviso that Kessel and Lupul keep going ....  That would be something, all right.

Kulemin needs to be pulled from the lineup.  1G 1A and the guy who plays in front of the net on the PP.

I was wondering how quickly you'd bring that back up, after I read the comment earlier.

He's very clearly struggled to finish plays in the offensive zone this year.  Noone has ever questioned that, but we have had the "Kulemin does other things" talk a hundred times this year.  His game has never slumped despite his inability to get the puck behind the net.  Even with all of that, he's on pace to have a 35 point season while being the most responsible defensive player in the forward unit, a guy who is consistent at finishing his checks and winning puck battles on the boards and a guy you can be comfortable on the ice in late game situations to try and hold onto a lead.

He lost his best friend/personal coach just before the season; came into the season with heavy expectations; lost his center to injury for a bunch of games; has seen reduced PP time as the Kessel line has been so good (8th for forwards on the team in PP-TOI behind Kessel, Lupul, Bozak, Connolly, Kadri, Grabovski and a good 40 seconds behind 7th most 1:49  from MacArthur.    He had 2:39 PP-TOI/game last year and has 1:08 PP-TOI/game this year.

Some of that is obviously his own struggles offensively limiting his offensive opportunities, but a half-season of struggling offense does not require benching for doing nothing wrong fundamentally, certainly not absurd living room psychiatry abut leaves of absence.

Yeah, it was a pretty strange comment. I agree with everything you said.

?!

but's it 2-0?

Am I in the wrong time zone?

Well he was wearing a nice hat before the game.  ;)..and I was looking for those hearts...it usually means we're on a roll....plus his next one is 20.  ;D

I can see why Eakins was frustrated with Kadri's play. It looks like he is trying to beat everybody on his own again.

Komisarek has had a good game so far.  A nice pinch and after that a good dish back to Kadri.

Ahhh. Sitting on the couch with my wife's new iPad that work provided for her.

Go Leafs Go!

Gotta give Gerbe credit there.  He was burrowing toward the net like a demented prairie dog.

Don't want to jinx him, but he's actually looked great.

Very physical, making decent passes, has jumped up on a couple rushes, all in all a very solid game.

Just buried a Sabre in front of the net too.
