Game 44: NYR @ TOR - Jan. 14 - 7:00pm - CBC

Goose has been very good vs. the Rags this year. If it were me, I'd have gone with Reimer  last night and Goose tonight.

That would have been my plan too but Gus' shutout against the Sabres on Tuesday complicated that.

I don't entirely have a problem with it as Gus played well last night, BUT this is the same issue that I had issues when they were running Reimer for no reason and leaving Gus to sit on the bench for weeks at a time.  You just can't have your backup go a month between starts and expect him to perform.

The Leafs don't have the luxury of having a Martin Brodeur/Henrik Lundqvist in net where they don't really care what the backup does in 10 starts because the rest of the time they are getting Vezina performace.  Eventually Gus is likely to cool off a bit and the Leafs will probalby need Reimer to step up.  He won't be able to if he's going to get the cold shoulder from Wilson.

Oi. LK, I understand where you're coming from but man, you've been nothing but sour the last little while. I agree going with Gus. I mean, I don't think Gus deserves to sit after one loss. One loss and you're out? Come on. He gave Reimer a far, far, far longer leash. Might as well give Gus a chance. Plus he played well against NYR last game, he gets to show up his countryman.

*Edit: I see Biron is in net. Regardless, he won before against NYR. I don't think he doesn't deserve to start, especially while running a 4-1 record. He's still the hot hand for now. Isn't that what everybody keeps clamouring for?

It's not about one loss and you are out.  It's simply recognizing that we don't really have a 1A goaltender, which means we need to rely on our backup more than a team that has an outright #1 guy.  If you leave Reimer sitting on the bench for a month between starts, he's not going to be sharp coming out in his next game.  Giving Reimer a start here has everything to do with it being a back-to-back, and nothing to do with the loss last night.

I have a pair of tickets for tonight I can't use...giving them away... anyone wants them msg me. First come first serve.  I can e-ticket them to you as well.

Edit: Tickets are spoken for.

If Gus shows well tonight, it probably won't be Tuesday either.  Unless the wheels fall off, I'm guessing Reimer starts Thursday.

Exactly RW will wait until Gus has a bad game which all goalies do eventually.  Then you have Gus questioning himself and RW wondering if he will be shunned again.  He should of played Reimer tonight simply because Gus needs the rest and Reimer needs the work.

Have a hard time being upset at ceremonies likes this.  Not over the top but respectful of the armed forces.

I wonder if the guy who repelled down from the roof is going to get reprimanded for taking off his uniform to show his Leafs shirt ;)

Ah, my feed is giving us the open mike....  Hughson & Simpson just told Healy to quit talking so much.
