Game 44: NYR @ TOR - Jan. 14 - 7:00pm - CBC

We played poorly and the 1st place team in the East took it to us. Move on to the next game....

Agreed the way the Sens are playing we'll have to come out with more intensity than what we showed tonight. They will be playing their back to back against us.

Back to back games, Biron with an 8 and 2 record, and the Rangers with the 2nd best GA in the league. No surprise to me that we lost this one.

What an awful game, games like this make me doubt our teams playoff chances.  Seemed to have no real passion in them, that being said the Rangers are a stiff unit and have done that to a lot of teams this year.

Oh and I had the feed where you got to listen to the announcers during the breaks and intermissions, Glenn Healy said at one point "My favourite part, I get to point out their mistakes" before showing a Leafs giveaway montage.  Total douche.

Yeah, but to be honest I think he would enjoy showing a pack of other teams' mistakes almost as much -- almost, mind you -- as he does dissing the Leafs.

Of course, the previous Saturday, when we beat the Wings, he was parked on the Hotstove.  I would have liked to hear his comments on that game.

"With the fact that we played (Friday) night -- a game we stretched right to the very end -- we didn't have the energy to really push as we might have had we not played last night", said Leafs coach Ron Wilson.  They did a good job.  Our fourth line (David Steckel, Mike Brown and Darryl Boyce) played pretty well and I thought Grabovski's line played well, but the Rangers focus was eliminating the Connolly line and they did a pretty good with that".

The Leafs were outhit 27-8, and the Rangers being physical did exactly what was required to do to shut down the Leafs top line, as well as making Phaneuf miserable.  A loss is a loss and that"a all this was.

Time to move on and get back to a winning homestand stretch.  GO LEAFS GO!!

Next game against the Sens is HUGE.  They're currently 7 points up (granted Leafs have 2 games in hand) and we can't let them get 9 up.  The playoffs are tough right now because Ottawa isn't a team that should be up there.  Everyone had them pegged for bottom feeders.  Quite annoying really.

Didn't realize Sens were playing tonight as well.  Leafs could be 9 back as of tomorrow (with 3 in hand).  Sens lose tonight Leafs are 7 back with 3 in hand and a chance to make it 5 back with 3 in hand.  I like that a lot better.  Of course they're playing Winnipeg tonight which would put them 2 points closer to the Leafs with a win.  Damned if you do...

Very bad effort on Saturday.  Worst I have seen Leafs play all season, no one hitting, no power forwards ( do we have any), no tough guys in lineup to set the tone (Rangers came out hitting and no one on Leafs bench that could respond - an it isn't and won't be Schenn or Phaneuf).  Absolutely no change ups from the bench to try and get something different going.  Avg of 2 goals in last 4 games, Leafs are not a scoring machine, they are grinders and work for every goal, but with out effort a big zero.  Not a good outlook long term without some changes.  Need some speedy and offensive minded d-men, tired looking at slow and slower Komaserick and Schenn.  Still looking for that big power forward or 2 (unlikely).  It will be another mad dash to make 8th place again but at the finish....look for Buffalo or Montreal to  squeeze in....
