Game 45: Leafs @ sens - Apr. 20, 7:00pm - CBC, Fan 590

That shot of the crowd was just embarrassing. Since when does a Leafs/sens game at the ACC have almost 20% of the fans wearing sens jerseys? I mean, c'mon Toronto fans I know the team is on a slump but...

Wait a second...

;D

Well played.  We were commenting on that watching here tonight as well but I didn't know how to present it on this board.

The Drought Is over....we went an entire CBA without playoffs....but we start the new one off right!!!! Also...PlayOffs!!!!! Go Leafs Go!

49/50.  That should be worth a shut-out and a regular win, to be fair.  That's 24/25 win in one game, and a 25-shot shut-out in another, all in one night.

Lots of Leafs stepped up tonight.  .818 is Anderson's lowest SV% this year, and only one other time has he let in 4 goals in a game this season (against the Pens).  And let's face it, it should have been 5-1.  It was great to see Lupul and Kadri get back on the board, too.  Nicely done.

Bring on the playoffs.  Right now I hardly care who it's against.

Also: Frazer McLaren suffered an upper body injury in the game. He left the arena with his right arm hanging awkwardly at his side.

Aww, rats.

Agreed.

[sarcasm] That is the exact kind of game we need to see from our Leaf tough guys.  Get in a staged fight again but do nothing when the goalie is run, star players are cheap shotted, etc. [/sarcasm]

I was a big supporter of the Leafs having fighters on the team but this is NOT what I was expecting.  I hate staged fights!!

I am at the point where I don't want to see any of the Leaf fighters re-signed this summer except Fraser on defense who I will continue to insist is the perfect, tough 6th dman. Both skill-wise and financial cost.

It's so hard to remain angry on a night we made the playoffs though....yeah I have finally stopped saying 'the Leafs made the playoffs' and say 'we made the playoffs'.  Go Leafs Nation!!  :D

Playoff beard is starting tonight. Last time it was all one colour, this time too much salt and pepper I fear.

But I'll take it...the Leafs are in!!!!

James Reimer will finally get to fulfill a childhood dream.Reimer had a 49-save performance in a 4-1 win over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday, allowing the Toronto Maple Leafs to qualify for the NHL playoffs for the first time since 2004.

"It's unbelievable," said Reimer with a huge grin. "That's the hockey where you want to play always as a kid growing up. It's playoff hockey. Especially for our city, it's been a little while so I know they're anxious for (the playoffs), they're ready for (the playoffs.)

"It's good to finally clinch."

.....yet this picture captures it all!

In terms of not generating shots, when the Leafs smell blood they don't bother with the low % crap.

Well done...freaking excited about some playoff hockey.

In other news: I cannot handle Bob Cole at all. The guy has no idea who has the puck, just uses the team name to call the play.

With Hughson, you know who has the puck, who is with him, and who he is up against, and then he anticipates the next play.

Cole just rambles away, making obvious statements about a play that is long over.

Don't know why most here don't like Hughson. He's light years better than Cole IMO.

I take Bob every day of the week over Hughson.  The latter may know who has the puck but his monotonous delivery is really grating over a whole game. Every goal scored scored, hit, whatever, is spoken with the exact same annoying affectation.  Bob, though not as well as h used to, is still capable of changing the tone of his delivery depending on the stage and flow of the game.  Back in the day he had an uncanny way of knowing that a goal was going to happen before it did.

For example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZVEYrIgp6c

Every single one of those chances, in the mouth of Hughson, would be "Grrrrreat save by _____ ". It's boring as hell.

Man that clip still gives me chills. I don't think I've ever been as exited during a Leafs game as I was that night.

A sad tale of woe  :'(.  I was in Palm Springs for the week (that's not the sad part....).  Naturally no chance to watch the Leafs week. I dutifully set the PVR for the games while gone but was able to listen to the Devils/Caps/Islander games. Ok so no loss there.  So travelling back to BC last night our plane is delayed a few hours so eventually we wonder into a small cafe....which I see is showing HNIC!!!  No sound but it's halfway thru thru the 2nd and it's 0-0. So naturally I drag out some food and drinks until the game is over.  All the way home I salivate over getting to watch Bob Cole and the Leafs play another home game in Ottawa.

So I sit down this morning fully prepared to watch the game...and yes....my son must have set another show to record and dropped the game...

And no......."Game in 6" just doesn't do it for me but this time it had to.

PS I hate the Turds.
PSS I just deleted the other 3 games.. ;)

I know its bad of me and everything, but I kind of wish it was the other one of them that got hurt if there is going to be an injury.  McLaren actually goes to the front of the net in the offensive zone.  Orr just awkwardly stands facing the wrong way half the time.

Hell, he's actually scored doing that...
