Game 5 - Jets @ Leafs - Wednesday Oct 19th 2011 - 19:30 EST - TSN 4-2 Win

Considering how completely confused they looked on that last PP, I have to wonder if maybe part of the issue right now is that they're trying to learn a new system and they really haven't gotten the hang of it yet. No one seemed to have any idea where anyone else was.

I leaning that way myself. I don't think it's because they don't have the personnel or that the coach isn't putting together a good one.

The game plan against the Leafs seems to be high pressure early. They have been under siege right off the bat nearly every game, but I've noticed that they do a pretty good job of keeping the scoring chances low. They only gave up 1 shot to WPG despite being under pressure for nearly 5 minutes.

The Leafs' passing has been way off in the first 5 games of this year.

As far as their powerplay goes, the key to defeating it seems to be again, high pressure. They don't have the size to win battles, and they don't seem to have enough skill to move the puck out of it and to the open areas. I think it's time to look at using Steckel and Brown on the PP to win some battles and set some screens.

I honestly thought we might see some improvement with the PP this year. Adding the new coaches I thought we might see some changes but so far this year it's brutal and when they do get control their setup is the same as the last few years. I don't understand why it's so f'n difficult. As I got flack on here with my total disgust with it and I strongly believe our PK and PP was the reason we missed the playoffs. I know it's early but looks like the same crap as they score with the man advantage.

Every single time the Leafs are on the PK they are hemmed in the zone, whereas on the PP they are always trying to gain the zone. How do other teams manage to hold the zone like that all the time?

The specialty teams are frustrating...

That excuse is getting pretty old.
