I'm really starting to hate this little drop pass play on the powerplay.

When executed properly the trailer picks up the puck at full speed in fraction of a second after its dropped. In Leafs' case the puck sits there for few seconds before another player gets it, by then the play is useless.

I dunno.  We're terrible at dumping it in and then recovering the puck.  Might as well enter the zone with speed.

The thing is they aren't.  Or at least aren't doing it effectively.  They either do one too many drop passes or leave the puck sitting there too long and let the defense adjust and recreate their neutral-zone wall just inside the blueline that once again kills any advantage that the speed would give them.

It's not exactly the play itself that I dislike, it's the fact that we try to use it every single entry attempt. On that first PP in particular every entry was a drop pass and it only worked once. Penalty killers are obviously expecting this so all 4 of them are standing on the blueline. If we had some more variety we could dump the puck in and have 4 penalty killers caught standing still expecting the drop.

When was the last time our 4th line scored?

I missed the first but I see that brownie had a scrap with eager (never liked that gutless excuse for a player) maybe he'll get the gordie howe trick?

Yeah that was just bad all around... Seems like that happens far too often with us

Failure to get it out, or failure to get it deep -- basic plays we can't seem to make with any consistency.

glad i'm not watching

Not a bad game, Leafs picking it up now, just had a flurry of chances.

i'm sure it's nice and all..but it's one of those games..where if they win...it was against edmonton ..and if they lose ..it was against edmonton!  ...it's kind of like an enh/lose scenario
