Game 8 - Leafs @ Flyers - Monday Oct 24th 2011 - 19:00 EST - 4-2 Loss

Players break out of slumps against every team in the league, we just follow this one ridiculously closely so we think it happens more against us than other teams.  I'm sure there are fans of other teams thinking they are that slump-breaking team.

I dont have good feelings when we play with the monster in net. as for his team i dont think they play with enough confidence with him between the pipes, they must have the same feelings we do. maybe he has a good game and feeds off it, and alls well again.

Goalie Ben Scrivens will join Leafs for game in Philly Monday.

Rynnas played yesterday's Marlies game which to some was a further indication Scrivens is the one who would be getting the call to fill in.

Bozak is likely for tonight, Reimer likely back Thursday in NY as is ..... Connolly.

The Flyers have been struggling. I expect the Leafs to be severely up against it as the Flyers are under pressure to turn it around.

Leafs will get smoked - something along the lines of what Boston did to us, but worse.

When did you become a leaf fan again?

As best as I can recall it was around 1972 or 1973.

They can't win them all. This one is a complete bonus if they do win, but not at all expected and highly unlikely.

I'm really looking forward to watching Jagr. It's only a matter of time before he snipes his 1st one. In fact, vs. Gus, it could happen.

Fixed it for ya.

Looking forward to this game... this game reminds me of last year though.  Remember, we were riding high early on in the season then went to Philly and got thoroughly trounced?  5-2 was it?  The game where Beauchemin had that cross ice pass that was intercepted by Richards?

Anyways, Gus doesn't instill a lot of confidence in me (or the players it seems).  Hopefully we have a good showing and can take a point out of here tonight.  Steal a win boys and I'll be quite pleased!

This game has a similar feel to that against Boston.

5-1 Philly.  Sure hope I'm wrong.

Agreed. It would be great to be wrong, but I am not holding my breath.

While I do not expect to see the Leafs win it would be nice to see them play 60 whole minutes of this game.

I would much rather see Jagr get sent back to Europe with a thunderous check by Phaneuf.

Schenn vs. Schenn should be fun too...

"Dreams don't always come true, but in our circumstance we're lucky they did," said Luke. "You work hard and you push each other along the whole way. Him being a forward, me being a defenseman, we had one-on-one battles growing up as a kid in the backyard rink. It's definitely special for us both being in the NHL." - Rotoworld.

It's to bad the PHI manage to get him from LA. It was obvious that Burkie really tried to get him to TOR and probably would of continued trying. I don't imagine PHI will ever let him go now.

The Leafs are on a high right now... Phaneuf and Kessel are playing amazing. I think their enthusiasm will continue to inspire into this game. I think their all pumped up from the great start to the season. I expect a hard fought, physical game, bringing the boys even closer together.

In fact, it could happen against any goalie in the league as I've yet to see one finish the year with 82 shutouts.

Could we sign this guy for one game?... that would be ok...

I can appreciate wanting to see Jagr play but c'mon, this 'get under the bus Gus' thing is pretty crude, almost like some want to see him fail.

I agree. I mean, I'm as big of a critic of Gustavsson as anyone, but, I want to see him succeed. Jagr might score tonight, he might not, but, unless it's a real stinker, that won't have much to do with the fact that it's Gustavsson in net as much as it has to do with the fact that Jagr is still a pretty skilled guy. I may not have much faith in Gustavsson, but, I still hope for the best.

Now, if Bobrovsky scores tonight, that would probably have a lot more to do with Gustavsson being in net . . .

Conservatively, I think you have to figure the Flyers will score roughly 132 goals tonight. More so if the news of playing Gus leads not just to the usual and understandable weeping and despair amongst our fragile boys but actually leads to some of the less constitutionally sound players(the Euros, most likely) to drink themselves into a stupor. They're only human after all and, quite frankly, we should be counting our lucky stars if any of them even bother showing up.

Oh, if only Reimer were here. When he gives up a soft goal he grits his teeth and says "Come on boys, get on my broad prairie shoulders. I'll probably not let in another softie all night" and like Jason's own argonauts the Leafs draw inspiration from Reimer's moxie in the face of his own shortcomings and defeat all in their path, except the Avalanche.

:)

Yeah. Jagr could get the trick but if the Leafs win 4-3 with some decent support for their goalie I just don't care.

I really want to see the Leafs rally around him tonight.
