Game of Thrones (S6)

So who thinks Arya's in major danger here?

She might come down with a mild case of death but who knows what that means on this show?

Also, what's the deal with bringing in an Actor like Ian McShane and doing that with him? That's swatting a fly with a sledgehammer.

Someone had to save the hound.  Why not a reformed soldier who shows him that non violent acts get his colony slaughtered so its clearly the better path?

The complaint isn't about the character, but, rather, bringing such a highly thought of actor for such a marginal role.

And it's not even a complaint really. I just heard so much about his casting I was hoping we'd see more of him on the show.

From what I read the fact it was such a short role attracted him to it.

That's interesting. I suppose it's as though it was an inconsequential role, depending on where things go with the Hound.

Makes sense. Ian McShane seems pretty busy these days. They probably wanted an actor with a lot of gravitas and offered him a pretty good payday for one episodes worth of work.

Was so psyched to see the Hound back.

Margaery playing the Faith makes the Kings Landing storyline a lot more interesting to me. I always found her character interesting so was disappointed last week when he so quickly "converted" to them, but I was holding out hope that was a ruse. Not entirely sure where he's going with it, but I definitely want to find out.

I'm sure Arya will be fine, but I'm a little disappointed she got tricked that easily. She knew they'd be coming after her, and she knew they can change faces. You'd think she would have kept her guard up a little more.

Where exactly has Bronn been all this time? I completely forgot what happened to him after him and Jamie left whats-that-place.

Honestly, I never really got the attachment to Arya anyway so I'm ok if she dies.  I get that she's spunky but I was usually more interested in who she was with rather than her role itself.

Syrio, the Hound, Jakkan.  They all interested me more than Arya.

Lots of theories as to why Arya was so brazenly traipsing about Braavos, flaunting cash, sans Needle, and seemingly inviting assassination by the clan of face changing assassins she just forsook.

Brienne, Sandor, Jaime all converging on the Riverlands revives a storyline long thought dead, with the possible return of another character also long thought dead.

Pretty much my thoughts exactly. Especially since she learned to heighten other senses with her temporary loss of vision.

I suspected Margaery was putting on an act.  No way she changed that much in so short a time.  She just has to be totally convincing to sell it to the old man and she's done that.  Can't wait to see how this ends.

Pretty sure she didn't fool the High Sparrow in the slightest, but so long as she puts on the appearance of being in the fold and keeps Tommen wrapped around her finger, he has no reason to out her ruse. You could sort of tell by his couched threat to Olenna (grandma) Tyrell.

Like Littlefinger has done with Sansa by playing her into relying on his Knights of the Vale by pushing Jon Snow to retake Winterfell*, the High Sparrow has left Margaery only a narrow path to walk, in the direction of his choosing. Margaery is an accomplished actor and manipulator herself (see marriage to Renly and then Joffrey and now Tommen), but she is currently limited in options and just had to send her strongest support away. Natalie Dormer was perfectly cast for this role, as she can pull off the acting within acting thing with just a few looks.

* video reviewers have noted that the 'Pink Letter' re: Rickon that Jon Snow received is sealed with the same wax that Littlefinger uses, which is different from the yellow wax that Ramsay Snow usually uses. Littlefinger appears to be setting up the Snow/Bastard fight for Winterfell, and will be standing by with the largest land army still available in Westeros to sweep in after.

Pffft!!!...They are just copying Walking Dead.  I mean they only brought in Jeffery Dean Morgan for like 5 minutes.

I guess we'll have to wait for next week to really be too harsh about that. There's some theories running around that would potentially explain it.

They are fantastic theories too. Like the observations about how Arya was walking, how she handled the gold, etc. Very, very keen viewership, and very, very sharp writing if that is the case.

I know you can?t talk future episodes, but do you have any tease for next week?s episode, ?The Broken Man??
Bryan Cogman: All I can say about next week?s episode is there was a week of shooting a particular sequence/storyline that was my favorite week on set in six seasons of Game of Thrones.

Which story do you think qualified? I suppose the Ironborn in Volantis could have been considered a very fun week by baser viewership (can't see that being more than a day of shooting though). I suspect it was the Braavos story. The 'play in a play' being watched by someone who is pretending to be No One, who in turn was being watched. There are a great deal of layers to Arya's seemingly monotonous storyline.

Episode 8 is titled No One.

The fact that she didn't appear to have Needle with her seems fairly telling to me.

I'm guessing he was referring to the Hound storyline/getting to work with Ian McShane.

I'm gonna go with the whole Lyanna Mormont sequence. I think that was the best part of the episode, for sure.

Friend mentioned it's entirely possible Arya has been switching faces. Possible that she placed her face on the young actress who wanted the older one killed.
