Of course there?s a (sexy) podrace.
I WAS THINKING THE EXACT SAME THING!! Who called George Lucas? [emoji1787]
Great George Lucas story completely unrelated to this thread.  When the Maysles Brothers were shooting the rock documentary of the Rolling Stones concert at Altimont, "Gimme Shelter", George was one of 16 freelance cameramen to be hired to shoot the footage.  However someone spiked his Orange Juice with LSD and all of his footage came back black, useless.  This was told to me by Albert Maysle himself.. LOL

Ok, battle episode next week. Who dies? I believe these are all the name characters in Winterfell:

Tyrion, Jamie, Daenerys, Jon, Sansa, Arya, Davos, Missandei, Theon, Gendry, Bran, Samwell, Gilly, Brienne, Varys, Hound, Tormund, Grey Worm, Jorah, Beric, Ed, Podrick, Lyanna, Royce, Ghost

Sidebar: I believe there is a prophecy in the books stating that a Dog & Lion will kill the sitting King/Queen, so I think Hound survives.

Just a thought, what if the Night King and white walkers go attack King's Landing instead?

I do believe the Night King and Viserion are headed to King's Landing while the rest of the white walkers attack Winterfell.

Yes, Missandei is absolutely stunning.

I've found it strange how the direwolves have more or less disappeared. I thought they were an interesting element to the story. [just read an article that claimed it has a lot to do with budget and adding the wolves cost major CGI bucks.]

Yeah they've pretty much admitted it just cost too much to have them in, which is a shame.

The problem for the visual effects team is that people know what wolves/dogs look like, even if they don't know what direwolves look like. The uncanny valley is a difficult crossing and once the pups got big, they took people out of the suspension of disbelief. Leaning their budget into dragons and wights is the smart call. They still have a lot of difficulty with people directly interacting with the dragons.

I think they've done an amazing job with the dragons.

Kind of wish we had a little bit more of the book style Direwolves where there was more warging capabilities but it is what it is.  I really liked how the books dive a lot more into science fiction/Lovecraft stuff.

Yeah the design and biology and sound creativity is amazing. They instill a lot of intelligence, personality, and visual acting in them without much reference. It's the rider portions that stick out sore.

I agree herman. As best I try to suspend belief, I can't stop thinking, "with the G-forces developed when they dive, Jon Snow should be hurtling through the air to his death about now."

No gloved hand is hanging onto a curved scale/horn tightly enough to keep him aboard, let alone a man with a burn scar limiting mobility on a significant portion of one of them.

Valyrians and Targaryens in dragon riding days had saddles and harness leashes.

I'm kind of hoping for this season to be over soon so that I don't have to hear the incessant predictions and "interesting" tidbits and tie-backs from my coworker.

"but the showrunners have said we know everything we need to be able to predict the ending." Now I have to listen to "back in Season 3, during Cersei's prophesy, we heard this and that and blah blah blah...."

We all enjoy the show in our own way, some I'm not knocking her for it. I just prefer to wait until next week to see what happens.

It's a small sample (ha) but the writing is better so far, relative to season 6 and 7, which were more like drunks stumbling from contrivance/set piece to contrivance/set piece. Probably because it leans so hard on call backs to season 1-5 when the dialogue was largely lifted from the books.

I appreciate the efficiency with which they are re-braiding character and storythreads with these quiet conversations (only to tear them asunder next Sunday).
