General Leafs Rumour Updates...

Assuming the Leafs give up on Reimer, they are giving up on a goaltender who put up a .911 SV% this year.

Martin Brodeur hasn't had a SV% >.910 since 2009-2010.  He has a .904 SV% over the past 4 seasons (his best over that stretch was .908).

Unless the Leafs have interest in Brodeur as a goalie coach, I'm just baffled...well I'm not really but it's a bad move regardless.  Even if Brodeur wanted to play for the league minimum, it's a terrible move.

I don't care about Reimer's save percentage.  It's meaningless without wins.

So, hypothetically speaking, you would take a goalie with an .880 SV% who is 10-0 over a goalie with a .920 SV% who is 0-10 then?

That's how Fuhr got into the hall of fame!

Honestly - Don't know - need more context and information.

What styles do their teams play?  What do their histories tell us of their future performance?  What are their respective GAA's?  Who were their opponents?  Where were the goals allowed scored from - were any of them back breakers?  What were the final scores in the games?  Is one of them 25 and the other 42 years old?  Does one of them have multiple stanley cups, and the other hasn't won a stanley cup round?

I see what you are trying to do, but all I'm saying is that Reimer with his great SVP (which it was), was not able to make the BIG SAVE and help us win a game, when we needed him to to help us win a game and change momentum when our #1 goalie went down.

I think the notion of the 'big save' is pretty flawed.  How do you define it?  What if he makes a year-end highlight reel save but then they score later on on another goal that would have required an incredible save?  Is he not considered to have made the BIG SAVE when they needed it?  What if he makes big saves but the team plays a style that requires him to basically continue to make big saves all game?  Not to mention it seems like something that would have different connotations and definitions to different people.

To me it seems like a way to try and justify getting rid of a good goalie when the tangible stats tell you it's the wrong move.

Rumours, rumours, rumours...

A league executive thinks there is a Phil Kessel trade to be made this offseason.

?I think they?ll be able to deal him, but I don?t think they?re going to get back as much as they think they can get for him,? said the executive.

The Leafs would likely have to take back a bad contract in a Kessel trade. Would think that interested teams would include the Predators, Sharks, Islanders and Sabres.

I don't see how that's controversial or how it reflects on Kessel. Teams trading star players almost never walk away with great returns. Thornton, Phaneuf, Nash...if the team's a motivated seller, they're not going to make off with everything they want.

Ahhh, the good old nameless and positionless league executive's opinion . . . and from such a reputable source!

Good ol Bruce Garrioch.

I love that on multiple occasions I've seen MSM guys dismiss criticism on Twitter from people who don't use their real names/have a real photo yet they have no problem quoting anonymous, nameless sources.

Checks calendar...uh-huh.

Date stamp on article says March 31.  However...grain of salt...

It's an April Fools joke. The site runs on Pacific time which is why the date stamps is off. They posted it midnight Eastern time.

Balls... I have a 1 month old, so I barely know what day it is.  Blast you, April Fools day...

I bet even your baby saw through that article. ;)

Just kidding;  congratulations on your newborn.

The best thing about that post is that a bunch of Russian outlets have ran with the story (and cited TLN) as if it were a real thing.

Leafs are in the hunt anyway.... I have no info on this guy other than what I can look up.

Derek Ryan

I'd expect them to make another Kontiola-like signing this summer. I usually fall on the optimistic side when it comes to signing guys from European leagues, but this guy doesn't really seem to stand out. The comparisons to Tyler Johnson are just bonkers.

A Leafs Rumours page I follow on Facebook says the Leafs offered Kadri & the 24th pick to Carolina for Semin & the 5th pick.  I have no idea where they got it from, they may have pulled it out of thin air.

I think this is something Eklund cooked up a little bit ago and the people started playing the telephone game with it. Recently Dean "Babcock has re-sign with Detroit" Blundell put out his version of it.
