My son just told me Gus is the star of the week with 3 wins in a row. I saw him play the Coyotes in Phoenix last winter and was very very good in a 3-2 win over the Yotes.

We could all see he was going to be good, maybe Det gets him going.

Wouldn't surprise me, the system Detroit plays will help his game and if there was one team that Gus would do good in, I'd say Detroit.

Isn't that a bit revisionist though? He played 7 games in Detroit last year and looked terrible.

It's also not like he hasn't had stretches like this before. He did it a couple times as a Leaf. What we saw is that he wasn't able to sustain it, and I highly doubt that's changed.

7 games in a season isnt that much, even a shortened one, especially if he didn't train during the lockout. Hasn't he had 3 starts in a row? A chance to get into a rhythm and having last year to learn his new team.

It very well could just be a great stretch by him right now and could cool off back to normal, but could also be he is now comfortable in Detroit after a string of games.
