Horachek's impact on the team

I thought this article was interesting:

I know it's from February, but I think it's relevant to the coaching talk we're discussing.

I know it's from February, but I think it's relevant to the coaching talk we're discussing.

Unfortunately, those numbers were not maintained:

5v5 Tied Corsi:

Bozak 45.75
Kessel 45.81
JvR 46.85

Still an improvement over their numbers under Carlyle in the first few months of the season, but those three don't seem like they will ever be possession stalwarts- especially not together.  Interestingly, their numbers under Carlyle in 2013-2014:

Bozak 43.38
Kessel 44.09
JvR 44.44

So, they regressed under Carlyle and Horachek got them back to around where they started.

If you take 2011-15 at 5v5 Bozak is at 46.7% CF with Kessel (3280 minutes) and 36.6% without (512 minutes).  Kessel is at 45.5% without Bozak (1241 minutes).  Bozak and JVR are both around 45% whether together or apart.

But just like Bozak apart from Kessel, Kessel doesn't really have any significant amount of time playing with another C.  He was pretty good possession-wise with Grabovski, but it was such a short timeframe that it's hardly worth mentioning (plus you'd get drowned out by the internet posts about how they were like oil and water together, or something).

Kadri is the C that Kessel has spent the 2nd most TOI with since 2011 (seriously it is 3280 minutes with Bozak vs. 524 with Kadri.  While the CF with Kadri is basically the exact same as with Bozak, the GF% is 3 points higher to 51% (vs. 48%).

But it's so hard to draw any conclusions.  These guys just have not had significant time apart.
