Wonder if part of Marner's problem is he's just playing too much. Last night, second game of a back to back in which he played 23 minutes in each, and he makes a critical error leading to the ENG (in addition to the other errors along the way). This is classic Keefe time (mis)management and we're not even in the playoffs yet.

This team has all kinds of issues but I really do find myself wondering more and more - would a different coach be able to make better use of the lineup and get more consistent results. I feel like Keefe has run out of ideas and is just grasping at straws - benching of Kampf for example, playing the third line only 10 minutes a game, M&M get 23 minutes a game regardless of what is happening in the game.

As for the PK, kind of tough to compare Matthews and Kampf. Matthews usually comes out late and probably against the opposition's second unit, while Kampf gets the fresh first unit as well as a lot of dzone faceoffs. Regardless, the PK hasn't been good enough overall.

I actually find it funny Joe and maybe just maybe there will be changes soon. Whether it's coach, core or scrubs at least something.

Been cheering for this team for 40+ years nothings changed just a passionate Wop. If it bothered me or caused me stress I'd be dead by now.

Just laughing reading Keefe's post game comments. They have a great PK and PP we knew that and that was the difference. Maybe you shouldn't have sat one of your best PK'ers. What a tool.

Kampf isn't one of our best PKers. Matthews is actually the best forward in PPGA/60. I also read the Kampf is ranked 572nd out of 596 in XGA/60. I don't think his benching was based off one or 2 recent plays. He hasn't been good all year.
As for Keefe scratching one of the top guys, that's not happening. I think maybe a shift or 2 or longer like he did with Bert, but no one is scratching game changers for a whole game.

Not sure what you are trying to compare Guilt trip. When I say one of our best PK'ers I mean ice time. I'm not looking at goals or points. Penalty killers are sent out primarily to kill the penalty. If they happen to score great. Kampf isn't sent out there to score first and foremost. If you're saying Matthews is better because he has 1 assist this season SH and Kampf has no points then good on him. Kampf is usually the first to go out along with probably Marner. Both of them average over twice as much TOI per game than Matthews.

All I was pointing out is Keefe benches his leading PK TOI player against a team that he says has a great PP. Good timing makes sense.

I think I stated it pretty clearly. Kampf is one of the worst PKers in terms of PPGA/60...power play goals against. The PK overall hasn't been that great.

Ok so I misread that. Next question is you think Kampf is the reason for the crappy PK? What's Marner's PPGA/60? I don't look at stats because sometimes they don't tell you the full story. I'm thinking Samsonov may have a huge part in our weak PK. What do they say your goaltender is usually your best PK'er.

Marner is similar and I def think Sammy has added to the bad numbers. The thing is Kampf just hasn't been good this season. Here's a few examples outlined by Frankie Corrado. Notice in one of them Reaves is telling Kampf where he should be..Like I said, this scratch isn't just about the game in CBJ, he just hasn't been the same guy this season and we need him to be. Let's hope this is his wake-up call, he's better then he's shown.
