If Carolina gets some consistent goaltending they are going to be a problem, they are brilliant with their defensive stick. I got the impression that's how Keefe wants his Leafs team, to play.

No it didn't. The lack of finishing did. He's not scratching him for that, get a grip.WhatIfGodWasALeaf said:Zanzibar Buck-Buck McFate said:Lily picks up an assist on the Nicky goal.
That was pass to Nylander under pressure was disgraceful, cost us the game.
If Keefe has any stones he'd scratch him, Kampf was scratched for less.

Marner had time and he shanked it to Nylander which results in the ENG, that doesn't happen, they get a point. Get a grip yourself, or name the location and we can get a grip of each other and make sweet beautiful love.
Bad play but big assumption that we were going to get the equalizer.WhatIfGodWasALeaf said:Guilt Trip said:No it didn't. The lack of finishing did. He's not scratching him for that, get a grip.WhatIfGodWasALeaf said:Zanzibar Buck-Buck McFate said:Lily picks up an assist on the Nicky goal.

An odd thought?to me Marner appears to be a little fragile
mentally. Could it be that he?s probably been surpassed by Willy in the pecking order and believes he might be the odd man out if the Leafs flame out in the playoffs again?just a random thought as he certainly appears to be making more than a few poor decisions

Agree Guilt trip we don't know if they would have scored. I think what he's saying was it was a dumb play and decision by Mitch at a crucial time which resulted in a goal to seal it. If Kampf was benched for nothing maybe Mitch should be benched for worse. That's all he's saying. The benching by Kampf like I said is Keefe trying to protect his job. He's walking on a fine line regardless of the goaltending.
Brodie was the worst for me tonight..azzurri63 said:Guilt Trip said:Bad play but big assumption that we were going to get the equalizer.WhatIfGodWasALeaf said:Guilt Trip said:No it didn't. Well stated.herman said:I have many Marner thoughts but most of them are already all over this board. He has been a superb player but I don?t think he has improved his play, technique, approach, what have you, as much as the other two have. It?s not hard for defenses to figure him out. And I am not even touching the headspace stuff that plagues him with some regularity. Say what you will about Will?s defensive acumen (i.e. almost none), but that guy can handle Toronto with aplomb.

Precisely.
Kampf isn't one of our best PKers. Matthews is actually the best forward in PPGA/60. I also read the Kampf is ranked 572nd out of 596 in XGA/60. I don't think his benching was based off one or 2 recent plays. He hasn't been good all year.azzurri63 said:Just laughing reading Keefe's post game comments. They have a great PK and PP we knew that and that was the difference. Maybe you shouldn't have sat one of your best PK'ers. What a tool.

As for Keefe scratching one of the top guys, that's not happening. I think maybe a shift or 2 or longer like he did with Bert, but no one is scratching game changers for a whole game.
I think I stated it pretty clearly. Kampf is one of the worst PKers in terms of PPGA/60...power play goals against. The PK overall hasn't been that great.azzurri63 said:Guilt Trip said:Kampf isn't one of our best PKers. Matthews is actually the best forward in PPGA/60. Not sure what you are trying to compare Guilt trip. When I say one of our best PK'ers I mean ice time. I'm not looking at goals or points. Penalty killers are sent out primarily to kill the penalty. If they happen to score great. Kampf isn't sent out there to score first and foremost. If you're saying Matthews is better because he has 1 assist this season SH and Kampf has no points then good on him. Kampf is usually the first to go out along with probably Marner. Both of them average over twice as much TOI per game than Matthews.
2:24 Kampf
2:14 Marner
1:01 Matthews
All I was pointing out is Keefe benches his leading PK TOI player against a team that he says has a great PP. Good timing makes sense.
