Idiocracy 2024

I sold all my stocks in order to ride this out. I'm old and can't afford the losses right now, especially with the kids' RESP

I called my financial guy too, awaiting a call back, he is probably busy this morning...
If I was younger I would just ride this out, but as I'm getting up there, I need to make sure all my gains aren't totally wiped out in a month, I expect some crazy fluctuations in the market the next little while so I'll be sitting on the sidelines

"Buckle up Canada! We're the axis and you're the allies

Remarks by President Trump at a USMCA Celebration with American Workers | Warren, MI

From Jan 2020.

"I will say that we just ended a nightmare known as NAFTA. (Applause.) They took our — they took our jobs for a long time. They took it for a long time. And we now have a brand-new U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement. It’s a whole different ballgame, and it’s going to be great for this plant. It’s going to be incredible for Michigan and for every place else in our country.

The USMCA is the fairest, most balanced, and beneficial trade agreement we have ever signed into law. It’s the best agreement we’ve ever made, and we have others coming. And, by the way, the China deal, two weeks ago, was just signed. And that’s going to bring $250 billion into our country. (Applause.)

Now he's saying they were treated unfairly. What is it Donald? He's going to play both us and mexico and make changes to it or get something out of all these threats. That's all he's interested in and the drug and immigration is just a cop out. Now he's saying we Canada misunderstood the plain language of the order. When asked what Canada and Mexico must do to lift the 25% tariffs that Trump announced on Saturday, the president told reporters on Sunday they "have to balance out their trade, number one." Oh so now the fentanyl crisis or lack of one is not priority one.

What kind of world am I living in where I find myself on the same side as Doug Ford? Wtf is going on?
If nothing else, Ford knows how to be vindictive. Normally that's a bad trait, but when dealing with that moron Trump it's very good.

Ford is amoral and will basically go wherever the money is, and in this way he is not very different than Trump. The main difference is the people puppeting Donald are much bigger, more dangerous, and more global, and are threatening Ford's own grift.

Mexico has managed a one-month pause...
All they did was offer 10,000 troops at the border. Seriously? We've just spent $1B on border security. He then rambled on about American banks not being able to do business in Canada. For Canada it's so obviously not about border security when he's calling us the 51st state.

He has no actual plan, so, he's constantly shifting goal posts. Between that and the things he gets obsessed over for whatever reason, we have the chaos of his administration in full force already.

Honestly I can’t help but laugh at this asinine ‘treated us fairly’ narrative. Trade has never been in Canada’s favour. Ever.
Yea, it is just so maddening....Deals were willfully signed by each nation...And the USA benefits HUGELY from us.The whining, lies, ignorance, hate, and just downright stupidity has reached such a level that I can't believe this is actually reality right now.

I love that ford has already whipped out the attack ads on Trudeau.

And just like that, drug dealer ford is back.

Speaking of which, this made me laugh:

Figures from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) show the agency seized 19.5 kilograms of fentanyl at the northern border last year, compared to 9,570 kilograms at the southwestern one.

Good thing we had a ‘fentanyl czar’ now to curb those whopping 20kg of fentanyl that the Canadian based Mexican cartels are producing.

Mexico and Canada temporarily avert Trump’s tariff threats by exaggerating a summary of commitments they made to Biden already, and zhuzhing up a title with Trump’s favourite word, czar. This works because Trump can’t read.

Hey never mind, when we get a 20kg bag of rice, it lasts a long time.

I think he's moved on that from that honestly. He's stopped referring to Trudeau as "Governor Trudeau" and actually called him Prime Minister in his latest post. He just wanted to take credit for the border security initiatives that were already announced back in December, because you know, he wasn't president when they said that. He's like a child, you tell him he won something and he's easily pacified.
