Idiocracy

https://twitter.com/DrDavidDuke/status/897559892164304896

How many more times can David Duke agree with Trump before the GOP sees a problem with that pattern?

His comments today were 100% a victory for white supremacists.

I mean, if there's any silver lining - and it's extremely thin and exceptionally tarnished - it's that he's not threatening North Korea anymore.

I know that this was in jest, but honestly what he's saying now is probably even more dangerous. Especially if you're of the opinion that N. Korea was never actually going to use nukes because that would have just led to them getting nuked back.

I didn?t wait long. I didn?t wait long. I didn?t wait long. I wanted to make sure unlike most politicians that what I said was correct. Not make a quick statement ... It takes a little while to get the facts. You still don?t know the facts and it?s a very, very important process to me ... You don?t make statements that direct unless you know the facts ... When I make a statement I like to be correct ... Before I make a statement, I need the facts ... so making the statement when I made the statement, it was excellent. In fact the young woman who I hear was a fantastic young woman ... her mother wrote me and said, through I guess Twitter, social media, the nicest things and I very much appreciated that ... Her mother on Twitter thanked me for what I said. And honestly if the press were not fake and were honest, the press would have said what I said was very nice.

The man is a flat out moron. A racist. A mysoginist. A bully. A narcissist. I mean how has the world got to the point this can become president of one of the most powerful countries.

First I'll state that have zero in common with any Nazi or Supremist group but i believe we fought the wars for freedom and part of that freedom is allowing people who we disagree with the freedom to expresss those views.  Even these whacko Nazi Supremists deserve that Right.

Imagine being an older person who fought the Nazis, who probably had friends killed fighting the Nazis, seeing what's become of that legacy of sacrifice in their final years.

I really don't know how else to put it. This isn't about marginal tax rates or deficit spending any more. Supporting this presidency is normalizing white supremacy as a political ideology.

Transcript of today is..... an interesting read

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2017/08/15/trumps-off-the-rails-news-conference-on-charlottesville-the-alt-left-and-infrastructure-annotated/

Reporter: Will you go to Charlottesville? Will you go to check out what happened?

TRUMP: I own a house in Charlottesville. Does anyone know I own a house in Charlottesville?

Reporter: Where is it?

TRUMP: Oh boy, it?s going to be ?

Reporter: Where is it?

TRUMP: It's in Charlottesville. You'll see.

Reporter: Is it a winery or something?

TRUMP: It is the winery. I mean, I know a lot about Charlottesville. Charlottesville is a great place that's been very badly hurt over the last couple of days.

(chatter)

TRUMP: I own, actually, one of the largest wineries in the United States. It's in Charlottesville.

Has to be about him

Edit: PS the winery does not appear to actually be owned by Trump.

That has absolutely nothing to do with anything I wrote but I'm really interested that you feel that way.

Wars were fought specifically to defeat the views these people are expressing.

I think it's hard to defend what constitutes inciting hatred and violence. This goes far beyond freedom of speech laws.

The Nazis and Antifa both have the Right to peaceful demonstration.  Charge them when they cross the line.

Nothing says peaceful demonstration like carrying torches, screaming disgusting Nazi slogans like "blood and soil", and literally coming dressed in full solider gear with automatic rifles. So peaceful.

Funny you only seem to see that from one side??  They are both disgusting wastes of skin but they do have Rights.  If it was just the Nazis do you think there would have been violence?

That seems an awful lot like victim blaming.  "You wouldn't have gotten mugged if you didn't leave your house."

Also, free speech laws does not include hate speech, and hasn't since they started passing laws in 1940s.  There may be valid criticism of people applying "hate speech" too broadly when it comes to critical speech - but these are *actual* nazis, many of whom are advocating for genocide.  That's not protected.

You may have picked this up on other articles that a documentary team was embedded with the (wrong side of the) protest. VICE News had a very good look at what these groups hope to accomplish and how they intend to go about it.

And just so we're clear, just because they have the rights and freedoms to express their anti-freedom/rights credos in America, it doesn't mean they are socially or morally equivalent to those that oppose them (the rest of the world). They are angry, armed, and assembling. These are traitors to their countries (Confederates and Nazis both lost their wars), traitors to their families, and traitors to humanity as a whole.

I believe a lot of them have simply been indoctrinated into this gene cult, and should be saved and rehabilitated where possible (LifeAfterHate.org, whose government funding was stripped by Trump, btw). Those that refuse to be part of civil society and foment hate should be dealt with as the traitors and terrorists that they are.

Antifa is not a victim.  Then charge the Nzis with an actual crime if they committed one.  I doubt they did. They have gained more by being confronted with violence than they ever would if the opposition and the cameras had stayed away.
