Let's not get crazy here Islanders aren't exactly Colorado on offense.Chris said:Awesome to see Hutch get the SO. Leafs are improving their dzone coverage. Nice to see.

No but the Isles are one of the more structures teams and he made some big saves. Don't rain on his parade man! Lol.Zee said:Let's not get crazy here Islanders aren't exactly Colorado on offense.Chris said:Awesome to see Hutch get the SO. Leafs are improving their dzone coverage. Nice to see.

The way Trotz has this team structured to play, I think it's about a 2 to 1 goal equivalent when playing against the islanders. So a solid 6-0 win.
No, but overall the past couple of weeks the Leafs appear to be playing a more coherent team defense when they do get stuck in their own end. Less running around and panic, better coverage in front, preventing clear second chances, keeping teams mostly to the outside. They seem to get in trouble mostly when someone (ahem Marincin tonight) tries one of those silly up the middle clearing attempts, or on odd-man rushes where the defender (ahem Barrie) chooses to play neither the shot nor the pass. Sure, sometimes a defender gets beat cleanly but that happens to all teams. I think they look quite a bit better in the dzone.Zee said:Let's not get crazy here Islanders aren't exactly Colorado on offense.Chris said:Awesome to see Hutch get the SO. Ya Kerfoot a lot better now! Apologies to Hutch, he is a new player since Keefe took over.Guilt Trip said:I know Willy is getting a lot of praise lately but I'm totally impressed with Kerfoot. His game has gone to a new level since being moved to wing.
He was coming around well as the 3rd line centre but it's different. Seems anyone who plays with JT just works harder on his line. His work ethic is infectious.Highlander said:Ya Kerfoot a lot better now! Agree. I think he goes back to 3rd line centre when Johnsson comes back. Spezza is doing an admirable job with Engvall and Kappy but I think having Spezza as our 4th line centre will make them a threat also.CarltonTheBear said:Guilt Trip said:He was coming around well as the 3rd line centre but it's different. This is why I'm not as sold as keeping him on the wing as some others are. The teams overall depth is just better with him at C and there's a pretty good chance that Johnsson can perform well on that Tavares line too.
