Maybe I was underestimating his speed from last year, but Mikheyev seems faster to me.

Underestimating.

Mikheyev is awesome. People will eventually listen to me.  ;D

He's such a weird player. I'd almost call him the Pascal Siakam of hockey. So much raw potential, but missing the finer points.

Maybe if you brought a compete level like herman does in boosting Nylander

I'd like to see him get a shot on the PP at some point. I think he has the skills. He's def good defensively.

Recency bias but I don?t remember very many dominating performances like this last year.  I give Jason Spezza 98% of the credit and Joe Thornton 97%

Nah, he's got no hands relative to the Leafs other options on the PP. I think he could be a really effective PKer though - maybe take the vacated Kapanen shorthanded threat role.

No Laine helps, but yeah for sure.

Figure he got to work on his core and lower body a lot while his wrist recovered.  He was a good skater last year but definitely seems like his acceleration is very good

I was going to post something about his skating. Definitely quicker this year.

I literally did not know Bullfrog cared one way or another about Mikheyev.

Vesey with a 93.3 CF% tonight (14-1). It's obviously very fair to say that has a lot to do with his two linemates but I've liked what he's brought to the team so far. Some nice moments on the PK as well.

I found Vesey a little lost the first two games(to be expected), but I found him much better on Saturday and last night.

Kind of felt bad for Lehtonen in this one.  I didn't really see him make any mistakes but he only managed to pick up 6:41 of ice time.  I realize he would have got more if the Leafs were allowed to get powerplays but still.

I thought he looked ok when he was on the ice. The one time I noticed his pair got pressured in the defensive zone, he seemed a little lost, but that's ok.

The Leafs need to give him some consistent games on the 3rd pairing. Dermott can sit for a week, it won't be the end of the world.

Agreed, though I also understand why they might want a safety net in place for the first games or two. Ease him into NHL action a little more comfortably.

I missed this while putting the kid to bed. It is pretty beautiful in its efficiency and how hilarious Hellebuyck ends up looking. Willy picks up the fortuitous rebound, spots Tavares' signal, sells shot, and sauces a gimme for the Captain in the same motion while Vesey goes hard for the back post in case anything doens't go directly in.

It all starts with a good FO win to the strong side, everyone overloads to free up Muzzin on the weak side to shoot for chaos and make the Jets PK switch directions multiple times in rapid succession and never really get sorted out.
