Matthews got smoked on that hit. I'm thinking most guys would have been injured on that play. I hope Matthews is alright. If he's out long term it's really going to put a damper on things. It could give Nylander leverage also. At the same token if Matthews is gone all season they may be more prone to allowing Nylander sit out for the entire season.cabber24 said:Is Matthews made of glass? To good to be true?

I hope none of this has any relevance to tonight's game.
I need more detail. Were you playing?
Felt like I was an ice-level observer who wasn't playing. Not dissimilar to the gif that Herman posted of Bernier, except that this one went mid-high glove side. I think it was a 3-2 final.
Are sleeping pills an option so you miss every game?Arn said:So I have a confession to make. I fell asleep at 0-2 last night. We came back to win 3-2. The only other games I've managed to watch so far have been the Saturday night games. Which we lost both of.

Twitter was rampant last night giving it to Hughson because he was on a talk about how the Jets were a better team than the Leafs and then the Leafs comeback began literally 20 seconds laterBrownRolo said:Am I the only one that found Hughson's play calling to be annoying? Hate that guy.

This injury will have zero effect on Nylander. Leafs winning and losing will have zero effect also.

How long did it take Matthews to recover the last time he had an injury like this? I remember it taking a really long time and he never really played the same afterward.
Matthews has had two of these injuries previously. One of them happened when he was a teenager.
Matthews missed 6 of those 20 because of a concussion last year. He has plenty of time to recoup from this injury.hockeyfan1 said:sickbeast said:Matthews got smoked on that hit. The last time Matthews had an injured shoulder he missed 20 games and wasn't really in full tilt during the playoffs against Boston. Even coach Babcock admitted thereafter the series was over that Matthews was not at full capacity.
I had a fear something like this was going to happen, that someone would try to take a run at him. Hopefully he won't be out for long.
It seems that Matthews is delving towards the net alot more now that Nylander is absent from his wing. He's being more assertive (aggressive?) around the net. Perhaps if Nylander was there, he could have avoided such a move in the first place.
Anyway, Godspeed to Auston in his recovery.
