So...you have to sell high on Komarov, right?

I'd keep him. I think he's very much the kind of gritty professional and leader type who can help bring through some of the younger guys.

I suppose I feel like grit, professionalism and leadership are things that you can buy on the UFA market. If you can sell a GM on Komarov as a 20+ goal scorer at 3 million per I think that could mean something real.

Yeah. A 20+ goal guy with a physical edge you can use in all situations at $3M for 2 more seasons? There should be a lot of teams who'd be interested in that. Could create a really interesting bidding war.

Yeah, I think if you get something like a 1st for him, it's a no brainer. Even a top young prospect and a 2nd, that kind of return.

I agree you can probably find the likes of Komarov as a free agent, but it'd be nice to have one like him long term who we could use to build the side's identity, if you know what I mean?

Between him and JVR there should be something really nifty coming back in return. I don't want to see Komarov leave but if they got an offer they couldn't refuse, yeah. ( hard to imagine a horsehead in Lou's bed, but, y'know )

I fully expect Komarov to be Babcock's Abdelkader here. So I'm kinda with you, if another team wants to blow Lou's mind with an offer he'll take it, but I don't see them shopping him for the sake of the rebuild.

While we're in the intermission, Cam Janssen is still ruining people's careers

Agreed. Sell high here. There aren't many on the roster like him.

It would be nice, but you really have to ask yourself how much time does Komarov really have in the league? He'll be 29 in a month, and plays a style that almost inevitably leads to being injured. So, realistically, he probably only has about 5 more seasons of really being a useful player. There isn't really a long-term with him.

Yeah, I was thinking that. Wasn't there something about it being a trip even if you played the puck?

Every time I watch the Leafs this year they've impressed me, and that's with no obvious real depth or talent. It's genuinely exciting how they may look in a couple of years when the prospects hopefully start maturing and coming through. It's so much more refreshing than the last about 4 years in particular.

Yeah, if a team wants to give a high end prospect or first round pick, I trade him.  I wouldn't do it for a 2nd though...at least not this year.

I know I have asked it a few times but what happened to the rule where an intended pass that just misses a player doesn't get called for icing....

See, I don't really think it has anything to do with the team rebuilding. It's just about asset management. Komarov is in a really unlikely 1st line role that's almost certainly not going to be the case next year. If that results in inflated scoring and inflated value...I think you jump at that in any situation other than having legit cup aspirations(which you almost certainly wouldn't have because if you're a contender Komarov isn't on your first line).

My feelings exactly, Arn.  Much, much more enjoyable.  They have been in almost every game.

Has Rielly ever actually drawn a penalty?  For a guy that skates like he does and joins the rush at times he never seems to get calls for the hooks that are thrown on him.  Doughty hooks him...Rielly loses his balance and crashes into the boards and then Doughty falls on top of him and somehow that wasn't a penalty even though it took away a scoring chance.
