The question will probably be the same one he faced this summer though. If he wants back at 4th line prices, terrific. If he wants to get paid like he's a highly sought after depth player at 3 to 3.5 million a year I'd be less sure.

This is how I look at Kulemin.  If he was getting paid a mill or a mill and a half for his level of play then fine.  But not 3 mill.  If the price is right you sign komarov, but don't over pay for people on your 3rd line.

$1-1.5 million for Kulemin?  Are you serious?

I guess by his standards Clarkson should be making 500K.

And Smithson would be for 100 bucks, MacLaren for two and Orr for 300 bucks  8)

Not gonna happen. He's going to be looking for $3M+ and someone is going to give it to him. It won't be the Leafs, to have him on the third line. Kulemin and Bolland are more valuable.

No way Reimer is back, especially at $4.0m.

No to Raymond here as well and no to Reimer at anything more than what he's making right now, +15% raise.

Need some room for the kids up front, plus cap room plus need to invest some money on the blueline, replacing Ranger preferably with a right side stay at home d-man.

I honestly can't see Reimer being content with the backup job going into next year. He's going to want another opportunity and it's probably a good time to agree to part ways.

It's pretty easy to fit Komarov in, with a fairly generous contract.  My idea with a few additions/changes:

Out: Raymond, Reimer, Franson, Ranger.
In: Komarov, Tallinder, Brennan, Holzer.

Yeah the Leafs have plenty of cap space if they let Franson and Reimer walk. The question is are they going to trade them away for just picks and prospects without taking any salary back?

We do need to replenish the prospect cupboard a bit and I would think teams interested in either player or both *cough Edmonton cough* would be content to only pay in prospects and picks.  I wouldn't consider either player to be the kind we need to take salary back on, unless there is a specific player we would want.

I'd like to see us create the extra cap space, collect the returns and see what might be out there on the trade market if say a Lupul is dangled with some of those returns.

Not trying to be Debbie Downer but I'll eat my hat if Kulemin, Bolland, and McClement resign at their 2013-2014 salaries.

Still, it leaves 3 million in cap space that could go to their raises which shouldn't be too far off from what it takes to get them signed.

Yup and frankly I don't think any of those 3 will get significant raises.  I did factor in some for Bolland and a tiny bit for Kulemin.  McClement? will be no more than $500K at the most.

Really like that guy...I know his KHL schedule wouldn't allow it, but it sure would be nice to have Komarov down the stretch.

Playoffs could be a different story though.

As an RFA who wasn't signed before December 1st, he is not eligible to play in the NHL until next season.

Obviously we will have a significant cap increase this year, the NHL is doing gangbuster business and Hockey at the Olympics is only going to broaden the grasp in the USA as I personally think they have a very good team and have a chance to win it.

So was Radulov still under an NHL contract when he came back for his playoff visit a few years ago?
