Leafs 2012/2013 Schedule in 10 game chunks

Anyone take a look at the schedule from here on out? It actually looks fairly respectable for the remainder of the season.  :)

Only 5 games against teams ahead of us in the standings, 2 of which are Ottawa.

Those games with the Rags and the Devils could be really important, but, overall, yeah, it certainly looks like a manageable schedule the rest of the way.

The flip side would be that aside from two games against Florida and MAYBE the game against Tampa, all teams should be at least having faint playoff hopes still.  No easy games down the stretch.

Points in 3 straight (actually 5 straight dating back to last chunk of 10).  Tonight against Florida is the classic "let down game" combined with a tired Leafs squad.  Hoping for a win, fearing an outright loss.

That can, and likely will, change by the Leafs actually play these teams.

So, this looks worse than it actually is. Unbeaten in regulation for far in this set....

That's the glass half-full approach.  Also, as I mentioned, points in 5 straight games for the Leafs, so even though they've lost, they've been picking up valuable points.

If you told me the Leafs would get 6 points out of 8 playing Tampa, the Sabres and 2 against the Bruins, I would have told you that you were crazy.  I would have also told you that you were crazy if you had told me at the beginning of the season that the Leafs would be 6 points above the 9th place team with 15 games left.

If there is any way the Leafs can get some experienced, good defensive help at the trade deadline, the Leafs will take a serious run in the playoffs.

It could still fall apart.  Carolina, the team that's 6 points back also have 3 games in hand.  If Leafs lose tonight, Canes win tonight, then it's Leafs/Canes next game, 4 points back with still 3 in hand. Things could get dicey.  Can you tell i've been kicked in the nuts by the Leafs before?  ;D

Zee! believe me the Leafs are a team on the up. you need to go with it, because there here to stay for a long while. They have oodles of talent just crying to climb the latter.
we will be even stronger next season, just think what it will be like with all this young talent a year older and better.

Totally agree with you.  Compare this team to last season's team...no hope in hell in beating Boston and getting a point in Boston, the team would have folded like a cheap suit, and just when we think the team is on the verge of a collapse, they pull out a miracle win.  The team is better defensively than in years past, the goaltending has been excellent, they are getting key goals from unlikely sources especially when they need one, the PK has been excellent, the PP has improved, and toughness, there are several players who are not afraid to drop the gloves as well as an opposing player.  How many Leaf teams do you remember in the past would get run over and get physically beaten by average teams?

Only thing I would like to see is an experienced d-man added at the trade deadline, just as long as it doesn't cost the Leafs roster spots.  Hopefully someone who would be willing to play for the Leafs for a few seasons.

And then there were TWO!  2 more games until the trade deadline, decisions, decisions!!

Not only are there only 2 games left, that 4 day break represents the longest gap between games for the Leafs all season so far.  No looking over the shoulder while playing a game the day before the deadline, Leafs will have the luxury of more practices and sitting back for a few days.  Might be ready to roll on Thursday after the deadline for the final playoff push.

PP is basically the exact same as last season.  It is the improvement of the PK, and actually having two goalies performing very well.  Gustavsson and Toskala's stats were at or near the very worst in recent NHL memory, so the goaltending this season is a revelation for this team.

I'm calling it now.  The drought is over.  We're making the playoffs this year.

I see no evidence that we will go into a tailspin that would cost us a spot.

Yeah, I think the drought is over too and I really don't care if we get buried in round one. - I just want to see a Leaf playoff game again.

34 games in, and they still haven't gone more than 2 games in a row without earning a point.

That's pretty impressive considering they're just coming off a stretch of two wins in nine games. Those 3-point games are finally helping us after being pretty much nonexistent in the first 20 games.
