Leafs 2014/2015 Schedule in 10 game chunks

I think the only real solution is to start changing up the player personnel. They need better two way players. Way too many offense-first type players on this roster, including the defensemen. Trading for a guy like Ryan O'Reilly would be a good start.

This is from Bruce Garrioch today, so take it with a grain of salt.  Found on spectorshockey.net rumour section:

"The asking price for Colorado Avalanche forward Ryan O?Reilly is rumored to be ?two blue-chip prospects along with a top young player and a No. 1 pick.?"

If that's the case, I hope the Avs enjoy losing him for nothing at the end of his contract.  It's an insane price for a 2C who may only be with your team for a year or two.

Either way, an offer starts with the Leaf's first (top 7??), Jake Gardiner, Nylander and Brown perhaps?  Sign me up!  :P

I'll take it with a grain of salt, because that sounds like a ridiculous asking price. His contract alone should scare a lot of teams away, never mind everything else in that proposal.

ROR is a 'top young player' I'd say - so they'd want a similar player (with a better contract no doubt) as well as potentially 3 other players equal or better than ROR for ROR and his already poor contract relative to his age.

I'd trade away nearly everyone if it meant we had a core group going into next season, that included Kessel, JVR, O'Reilly, Rielly and McDavid. :D

These loses are because of the adjustment, (or rather the lack of being able to make the adjustment) to the style they are being asked to play under Horachuck.

They just seem unable to get both their defensive and offensive game going at the same time. Tough to say that time is the answer to this problem. Will another coaching change fix it? A new GM?

Didn't help that Bernier also suddenly goes into the tank once the Leafs cut down on shots.  Like really they should have won a few more games.

ONE MONTH TO THE TRADE DEADLINE!

We cannot go on any kind of winning steak before the deadline. We don't need anyone on the management side thinking this team is something it is not again, and perhaps changing their mind about what direction to take come deadline day.

If that were to happen, then we're in more trouble than anyone imagined.  I don't think there is any doubt that this team is terrible and needs to be scattered to the four corners of the earth.  Perhaps we can shoot the dead wood out of that t-shirt cannon?

I'm confident that those that would have felt that way have mostly been purged since Shanahan took over, and, with him in charge, I don't think the direction will change because of a brief streak. They're 12 points out of a playoff spot while having played more games than the teams they're trying to catch. The type of win streak they need to get back into the playoffs is one that starts now and ends after the trade deadline.

Well, I've seen worse.

Just kidding, no I haven't!

I feel like i'm just playing out the stretch here.  Nobody is really looking at the upcoming games and analyzing how we'll do.

Man, what a tank job.

Some tough games end of February and early March.  And with the Leafs likely dressing ushers after the deadline, that doesn't bode well.
Depends on what you're boding for. For a better draft position, it bodes quite well.
