Leafs 2016/2017 Schedule in 10 game chunks

Looks up, 5 wins in this chunk huh?  They'd have to go 5-2 in the next 7...that's a tall order the way they're playing now.

I know this team wasn't expected to make the playoffs this season, but after seeing how well they're capable of playing, this sure feels like a bitter pill to swallow.  Shades of the 18 wheeler with the longest losing streak of the year at the worst possible time.

How much better would that look though with green stripes instead of orange? It's a game of inches and the OTs and SO's have been killing us.

Now would be as good of time as any to go on a.... (dare I say).... winning streak
A knock wood winning streak is allowed. Go Leafs Go!  Bit of heartburner tonight but Bozie put it away!

Need to keep the green going.  More green than any other colour is what I want in this chunk.

Let's just pretend last night didn't happen mmkay?

Sadly, with 14 games left I see the Leafs just missing out on the playoffs.  They'll go something like 6-8 or 5-9 down the stretch and finish with 86-88 points.  It'll be way better than anyone expected at the beginning of the season, but disappointing after they've held onto a playoff spot almost the entire season.

So if 93 points gets them in (might be even 94) here's the Leafs roadmap to 93:

7-4-3
6-3-5
5-2-7
4-1-9
3-0-11

I thought this kind of says it all....

The Leafs play the Lightning (12-2-3 since Feb. 4) on Thursday before returning home for dates against the Chicago Blackhawks (14-3-0 since the start of February) on Saturday and Boston Bruins (11-3-0 since losing to the Leafs on Feb. 4) on Monday. Then Toronto will head to Columbus to face the Blue Jackets (9-3-1 since beating the Leafs on Feb. 15).

They need to play some of their best hockey all year to be able to even break .500 in this set. What appears to be missing of late, especially noticeable in the 3 game win streak, was the swagger. Babcock has got them all trying so hard to play D, they've lost a lot of the offensive prowess they showed most of the season. Too late in the season to learn a different approach.

Laying out the rest of the way with only 13 games left.  Going to go down to the wire for a playoff spot methinks.

The eighth and final full chunk already??  Where has the time gone!?

Next 3 are tough...back to back and then travel to Buffalo for 3 games in 4 nights.  I don't look forward to that Buffalo game, Leafs have to make hay in the first 2.

I'm also impressed at the ability of the team to take games deep. While you could look at it at not closing out the truth is they're in almost every game except for maybe Panthers and Ducks in last 12.
