Leafs Acquired Raddysh [8 years, $8.5mil AAV]

And on queue Kypreos is shitting all over this.
He's a loser. I'm fine with grump old school opinions but I find him insufferable. I hate that I like Bourne and Sam McKee because I still listen to him for their takes.

Honestly it's 100% the same with me. You can kinda tell Bourne has had it with him

Kypers a meatball, but I take him with a grain of salt. I do appreciate when someone says something definitive, as opposed to leaving every comment and opinion open-ended so you can never be wrong.

Kypreos seems to sensationalize things attempting to garner more attention - like he needs ratings to survive
I don't have anything specific to add at the moment. It just feels like that.

2 things.
1. Shitting on things garners more attention
2. It's easier to walk back if he's an excellent player than it is to call the move excellent and then watch him stink.

According to the well informed Kypreos 'ain't nobody was going to give him that contract. He didn't care about being a Toronto Maple Leafs player, they offered him the biggest contract that no one else was'

It was bugging me so I wanted the exact wording:

Kypreos:
Nobody was going to touch what the Leafs offered him. He's not here because he really wanted to be a Toronto Maple leaf

Bourne:
Oh, don't do that.

Kypreos:
He's 68 million. You cannot turn down $68 million. Okay. That is reason number one. Reason number two maybe, yeah, I want to be a Toronto Maple leaf. But no one was going 68 large.

Bourne:
But you know, this is the sort of thing that you do when you're trying to be serious. Like I think the Minnesota Wild looks at the Caprizov thing

And so so...

I don't think Kypreos is exactly wrong. I'm sure other teams were probably close in AAV but length of the contract was probably max 5 years. At 30 years old, someone is waving an 8 year contract at $8.5 AND it's in your home town? No brainer.

I thought it was going to be $10m x 6 years, so I hear what Kypreos is saying here. Thanks for the context Joe S.

So, even though free agency hasn't started, it was the best contract he was going to be offered? Kypreos is an idiot.

We need to stop posting in this thread. Everytime I check this site, and this thread is at the top all I read is "Leafs Acquired...." And I get excited.

Then I finish reading the title and I'm like "I already knew that"

Speaking of which he's now saying that Byram will be getting 12 mil from Chicago because that's what defenceman are worth.
He said it with the thought that with the rising cap Makar and Hughes could get 17-18. They'll have to pony up to keep him for sure, maybe not 12, but it'll be a lot.

I'm a former OHL Exec, and this summer I've dabbled into writing articles. Each observation is paired with video evidence to support different observations.

The latest one I've published is looking at how Darren Raddysh fits within the Leafs roster and breaking down his skillset.

Toronto's front office did not hand out a maximum term commitment just to bolster defensive depth. They brought him in with the explicit expectation that he will walk right into their organization and efficiently move pucks and quarterback their top power-play unit. If Raddysh can prove that last season was a true reflection of the player he has become, and translate that performance onto a Toronto power-play that will ask him to take on a greater role, this high-stakes gamble will finally give the Maple Leafs the dynamic quarterback they have lacked on the blue line for the last decade.
