Leafs Bottom 6/Depth Chart

So in 17 games where he played primarily with Kessel Kadri had 12 points, which is a .70 PPG rate. In the 4 seasons prior to last season Bozak scored 134 points in 238 games, playing almost exclusively with Kessel. A .56 PPG rate. Bozak had 4 years of sucking with Kessel before finally having a successful season. If he kept getting another chance there's absolutely no reason we should be writing Kadri off after 17 games.

I don't think we should either but I also think it's important to not entirely base our opinions on things like a PPG rate which, even with the right sample size, is really only a measure of a certain element of the game. A player can play poorly and get a point and a player can play well and not score points. Likewise, all points aren't created equally.

I think for me it's that Bozak compliments Kessel and JVR better than Kadri.  I think sometimes people get hung up on labels.  "This guy is a #1 centre.  This guy is a #1 d-man" and such.  For me, I don't want to see Kadri on the top line until it is shown that when he is there, that line is going to be responsible defensively.  I think with Bozak on the line, they are better defensively.  If there are stats that counteract this, then I will retract that statement, as I am going with gut feel right now, and don't really have the time to look it up.

Anyways, if the stats support my above statement, I think the leafs should play situational hockey.  Bozak, Kessel, and JVR 5 on 5, Kessel, Kadri, and JVR on the powerplay.  That sort of thing.

This is definitely something I could live with. Especially considering 1) Bozak's lackluster powerplay scoring numbers and 2) Bozak will likely have to take on a lot more minutes on the PK so his ice-time elsewhere is going to have to drop.

Same here, I'd like to see Kadri get more PP time.
