I have no idea whether you mean you were violently gardening or crying (and omitted the word 'in') but both responses are fully valid.

Man, Marner... that?s not good. Is he speaking for himself or trying to throw someone under the bus without naming names

I don't there's any hidden meaning there. As a team, they didn't seem ready.

I think the (not so) hidden meaning, from the quote and the play, is "we got paid and now don't give a damn." Or perhaps "we got too caught up in the press clippings about how good we were and figured we could sleepwalk through this series and come out ahead."

This just demonstrates a high level of immaturity. Maybe they need to lose this series before the switch finally gets flipped. This is the first time they've been considered a strong favorite and they are about to blow a 3-1 series lead. If that doesn't make an impression, I don't know what will.
It's all just hockey cliches. Nothing more or less.

Is it? I don't think I've ever heard a player say they have to start on time because "lots of people are saying it." But maybe you're right. I think we'll have our answer tomorrow night.

Marner's comments are typical comments of 20-somethings who haven't realized that it takes tremendous effort ? not just most of the time, but all of the time ? if you want to achieve really difficult goals. And being uber-talented isn't even close to being good enough on its own.

To me, the way they lost the last 2 games provided the answer to the question of whether they have what it takes, mentally, to seriously challenge for the championship.  Much as Babcock has fallen off a cliff in our eyes, that issue was at the core of his coaching.  Keefe & Co. somehow have to find a way to get it through to these guys that they don't have it yet.

My backyard is pretty much clay so I think it?s pretty appropriate to say I did both.

I'm legit pulling for a Leafs win tomorrow more for you than for me.

I know you mentioned not watching the game tomorrow, and I wouldn't blame you in the least for doing just that if it's best for your mental health. But I would mention, and you can take it for what it's worth, my greatest regret as a Leaf fan. No, it's not being a fan in the first place, although anybody can be free to make that joke at my expense.

My biggest regret as a Leaf fan is when I turned off Game 4 in last year's playoffs in disgust with about 5 minutes left in the game and the Leafs down 3-0. I turned off the game and turned on my PS4 to play a game for a while to try to feel better. Maybe 15 minutes later I checked online to see what the final score was in the Leafs final game of the season. I was told the score was tied 3-3 and going to overtime.

My immediate response was, "yeah, that can't be right". I really didn't believe it and checked several sources and was shocked. Anyway, you know what happened in that miraculous comeback that game, and if you weren't working you probably watched it live like just about everybody else here. I missed  that most amazing comeback on the brink of elimination (though I did catch the overtime winner, thankfully), the day after the Leafs blew an equivalent lead.

Yep, they lost the series the next game. And frankly, even if the Leafs win tomorrow, unfortunately yes they're very likely to bow out before too long, particularly with two major team injuries. It sucks, but it's reality for a variety of reasons.

There's a definite emotional risk to watching the game tomorrow. Just don't forget the chance of an emotional reward.
