Have any regular viewers of 'game in 6' on mapleleafs.com been able to watch last nights game in 6 today?  Mine never loads.

Same problem here, I thought it was just me or work blocking it.  Maybe an issue on their end?

ahh, I thought it was because yesterday I disabled a bunch of programs that run on startup to make this laptop not as slow.  I still can't watch anything, and my work doesn't block it.  :P

Didn't see the game, I heard there was a lopsided advantage in PPs for Philly?  What was the final count?
Philly went 1/7 on the PP, Leafs went 1/2.  Philly also got a penalty shot, but Bernier shut it down.

Ranger sucks IMO. I am guessing with Fraser hurt and the cap crunch we will finally get to see Reilly play against the SENS. (Unless he got sent to the WHL without me knowing)

I thought Ranger played a better game. I didn't watch the whole game though. I definitely don't believe that should of been a penalty shot.

It that was a 'better' game than he's got a ton of room for improvement. He had 2 blatant giveaways. One that led him to take an emergency dive in front of Bernier to prevent a shot, and the other a diving stick check that ended up being called a penalty shot. I was hoping he would be a whole lot better then he has shown so far. Hopefully its just a readjustment or timing thing, but I'm starting to have serious doubts.

I don't necessarily blame Ranger for the events leading up to the penalty shot.  Simmonds came off the bench from outside the zone and surprised Ranger who thought he had time to gather the puck and put it on net.  IMO, it was up to his defense partner to YELL at him "MAN ON" so that he could chip it back in deep.  In fact, Franson reacted really freaking slowly once he saw the pressure get applied to Ranger.  He should have started backing him up immediately- which would have prevented Ranger from having to dive to try and make a play and give up the penalty shot.

BTW, having the puck stolen off your stick in a battle like that is NEVER called a giveaway in the stat book- its called a takeaway.  Giveaways are bad plays with the puck that end up on the other teams stick (bad pass, attempt to dump it out that doesn't make it).

I agree that Ranger had a better game last night than opening night.  Remember, its his first two games in the NHL in four years, on back to back nights.  There is lots of room for improvement there and I think he will adjust fine.

I don't know why you react this way and act like people who advocate in favour of possession advocate for it in isolation and in ignorance of all other statistics.

it's a joke. I was joking. Stop being so dramatic all the time.

Give away- take away, whatever you want to call it, the results are the same.

I'm sure Ranger will be given every opportunity to make the proper adjustments needed, but it has been more than just the mistake leading to the penalty shot that people are taking of note of. He's looked slow and inconsistent in his first two games. Like you said, It is early and he's making a long awaited return to the league, so I don't think we should read to much into yet. But I'm sure Carlyle will be keeping a close eye on him.

1-I think we're being a little quick to rush judgement.

2-I saw Gunnarsson give the puck away a couple times in one shift. I also saw Phaneuf lose the puck 3 times in his own corner on the PK.

3-Serious doubts? Really?

Ranger looked very overwhelmed and the 2 penalties + the penalty shot pretty much cap it off.  However he was better in the 3rd period.  I think that had to do with the Flyers adrenaline wearing off a bit in the final 20. They had a LOT of jump in the first two periods and the Leafs overall were having a tough time handling it.

Have to give Ranger a bit more time to adjust to NHL hockey again. It's been 4 years for the guy.  But he should be on a short leash.

I agree CF.  The guys in my building here are surprised by how bad Ranger has been in the pre-season and 1st 2 games.  I guess I haven't been as critical as I am a bit more sentimental.

I hope he can pull it off but he has made some BRUTAL plays every game I have seen this year.

I thought he was good in the pre-season, mostly.

He was good early in the pre-season, when the quality of the competition was lower. Later in the pre-season, when there were less AHLers and prospects dressed for the other teams, not so much.

The ref's were a little anti leaf this evening. A lot of soft penalties called, including the one against Orr. Lay off the muscle. There is a place for this type of player in the game. We dont want guys like lupel fighting on a nightly basis.

No one wants one of your best players fighting for fear he could even get injured in the process.  But it was important for Lupul to defend himself against Schenn and he did it well.  There are times when players need to stand up for themselves, so to speak, and this was a case in point.

Fraser knocking Rinaldo and Orr shoving Rosehill.  Since the Flyers are not a team I've ever admired,  I was glad to see both Fraser and Orr standing their ground against two of Philadelphia's enforcers.

I thought the same. Hopefully he can ratchet up his intensity level to match the level of play now,  but we definitely haven't seen it so far. He looks slow, but it may still come with more time. I'm wondering if there are any comparisons as to how he started the season with the Marlies last year.

I've found everyone on the D slow except for perhaps Gardiner.

And he just gives the puck away.
