So it's gonna be closer than you'd have thought for rookie of the year voting between Matthews and Marner now isn't it?

I love it, the only downside is the CHL nut hugging that comes with it from the good ol boys.

Most years you'd be happy to have Nylander and Brown and expect them to be in the running. But you throw in M&M and those other two don't even come into the conversation

Ya, it's quite remarkable. Nylander's performance is actually quite good for a rookie but you barely notice it compared to those two.

Man, if this team could play defense it'd be pretty damned decent.

If only.

They actually were I thought improving. But since the all star break its been as bad if not worse than the start of the season

Isles getting lucky with a lot of deflections and blocks and rebounds dropping to their D

Kind of tracking Andersen, yes?

Chicken?  Egg?  Egg?  Chicken?

I was thinking that when I typed that yeah. You could actually kind of see it in miniature in this game. Anderson flubs a few in the first, Leafs D is running around. Makes a couple of massive saves and Leafs D looks more composed at getting the puck out

Marner has patience for days. PP looked like it has some really good looks there.

Via MvsW a week or two ago, Marek shared what a long time scout said to him prior to the 2015 draft: "Marner doesn't make the right play; he makes the better play."

That was like most of the goals conceded against Boston. Bouncing pucks falling to/being won by the opposition in front of the Leafs net while in front of the opposition net it goes the other way.

Isles have hit the post about a half dozen times as well to be fair

Last four games have been rough for Andersen. Pulled after 3 in Dallas, then gives up 5,5 and tonight 4 (so far)
