Well we'll take it but not the best effort and they have to figure this PP out. Get them shooting it more what they are doing now is obviously not working.

I don?t think you?re ever happy unless they win 6-0

All I said was not their best effort and I'll take it. Stars were absent, PP off again and Campbell won it for us. You think that was a great performance?

The big 4 had 20 of the team?s 38 shots on goal (52%) and I?m generously counting Marner?s 2. They had 18 of the team?s 32 scoring chances and 12 of the 17 high danger chances. All of Tavares? 5 shot attempts were high danger. The only way the stars didn?t show up was their shots were stopped by a Vezina goalie and Dermott?s dump on net oddly wasn?t.

If Campbell takes the starter's net and keeps going the way he is he'll edge put V88 for the Vezina.

I do.  They played very well against a quality opponent.  Goalie came up big when he needed to.  My big takeaway is that these are the tight games they would lose in prior years.  Prior iterations of the Leafs and its probably a regulation loss

Lack of scoring luck aside, and seriously Mikheyev should buy a lottery ticket, Winnipeg doesn't give you any room out there.

I like the Leafs' chances against them in the playoffs, as long as goaltending holds up...I think Winnipeg is the toughest opponent in the North.

Campbell stole the show last night.
It was an enjoyable game to watch. The game seemed to flip back and forth with one team pinning the other deep for a couple shifts and then the other taking over.

Exactly. The Leafs win 6-5 and it's "waaaahhhhhh, the defense wasn't good". They win 2-1 and it's "wahhhhhhh, the offense wasn't good".

The offense wasn?t even bad.  The powerplay is a bit of a train wreck but Hellebuyck kept Winnipeg in that game too

Winnipeg's the 2nd best team in the North, but I'd still be most worried about Edmonton come playoff time for the obvious reason(s).

I get that, but I just think that Winnipeg plays that more playoff grindy game better than Edmonton...and Hella Buck is tough.

While even thinking about running into a hot goalie come playoff time again keeps me up at night the Jets being pretty bad defensively gives me more hope that they'd eventually get enough chances to be able to solve Hellebuyck.

As much as I hate to say it don't forget about the Habs. Their defence is better than the Oilers and the Jets and if Price can play anywhere near his capabilities I think they are going to be tough. Looks like these are going to be the 4 teams in the North. Playoffs is a whole different ballgame and quite frankly any one of the 4 can come out on top.

Habs stink and Leafs will run roughshod over those losers.

Well put.

Plus OUR goalie's first in line for Vez.

Then there's always "waaaaahhhhhh, other people on the forum are saying things I don't like, waaaaaaahhhhhh." That's the worst.

Things will never be completely perfect but we should be happy that we are watching the best assemblage of talent the Leafs have put on the is in my lifetime.  I am enjoying the ride.

I thought that was a fairly even game with the edge going to the Leafs. At this point if he's healthy I think Jack Campbell is undeniable. You have to let it ride. When was the last time one of our goaltenders went 8-0? This is a crazy hot streak he's on right now and honestly I don't think Freddie would've even come close to replicating that.

The game was fairly even, felt very much like a playoff game. Both goalies were very good, though Campbell was better. I thought the Jets were slightly better overall, just based on the eye test and not from looking at any numbers, but it was close. I thought the Leafs gave up a few too many odd-man rushes and the PP was garbage for the most part.

If we're not supposed to talk about any of this, I don't see the point of having a forum. The PP is a legitimate concern, especially if they don't figure it out by the time the playoffs arrive when all the games get tight. Campbell has been on an amazing run - maybe that continues and he is this years "story" into the playoffs. But maybe not and if he regresses or gets hurt again, we might find that those "little" issues in the game (like the odd-man rushes and PP) suddenly loom large and we are looking at another early exit.

Agreed we are witnessing the best assemblage of talent in a long long time and it's been a real treat watching the team develop. It looks like we have taken or are about to take that next step which has been lacking - the ability to consistently win tight, low scoring games. If that continues the playoffs will be something.

Well we don't have another option right now with Freddie being hurt. Last time for a goalie was Potvin I think with 9.
