Game Notes

TOR
?Antoine Bibeau will now get his 2nd career NHL start
?Auston Matthews continues his torrid goal scoring pace, he now has 11 in his past 15 games
?Jake Gardiner also continues to put up points, now with 9 in his last 9 games
?The Leafs can tie Tampa for 4th in the Atlantic with a win tonight, while still having 2 games in hand on them
?A Toronto win and a Boston loss tonight would put the Leafs 1 point out of a playoff spot, while still having 3 games in hand on the Bruins

TB
?With Vasilevsky starting last night and Bishop injured, we could see 24-year old Kristers Gudlevskis in net for the Lightning
?Gudlevskis has just 2 career NHL starts in the past in the past 4 seasons. He's struggling this year in the AHL with a .884 Sv% in 14 games
?Victor Hedman has 12 points in his last 7 games
?Valtteri Filppula was benched for last nights game after missing a team meeting in the morning. He'll return to the line-up tonight

Injuries

?Nathan Horton - Back - Out indefinitely
?Joffrey Lupul - ?\_(ツ)_/? - Out indefinitely
?Stephane Robidas - Old - Out indefinitely
?Martin Marincin - Lower Body - Injured Reserve
?Ben Smith - Hand - Injured Reserve
Code:

?Cedric Paquette - Lower Body - Questionable Thursday
?Ben Bishop - Lower Body - Injured Reserve
?Ryan Callahan - Lower Body - Injured Reserve
?Steven Stamkos - Knee - Injured Reserve

Thanks CtB!

At the 41 game mark of this season, the Leafs will have played 10 back-to-backs, wow! World Cup of Hockey year. I believe so many pair of robust, truculent, belligerent young legs works in our favor.

Also, Truculence.

All those things are good, disco.  But we really need to do is sign up this fellow:

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/28/sports/ed-whitlock-marathon-running.html

I think you could make the case that he's literally the world's greatest athlete, bar none.

Sorry to jam this off-topic topic in here, but I was blown away by this story and wanted to share.  Since he's from TO many of you will know of him already, but I didn't.

EDIT: Plus, the guy ran with Alan Turing back in the 40s.  How cool is that?

Now that's how to sing an anthem.  Tempo was a wee bit slow but she actually sang the song.

Hey dudes, if anyone was quick enough to get Nic Cage's Youtube link message me please and thanks!

Matthews in his office, 12 feet in front of the net! Hyman digs and Auston finishes, this is a recording :)

Matthews is on some kind of run. He's on pace for more than 40 goals

Isn't there some other kid in Winnipeg that we're supposed to be in even more awe of? Not so much anymore.

So the dude was 18 a few months ago and is arguably in the top 10 forwards of the League already. That hasn't happened since Mats and Dougie in their prime. In a few years he could be top 3 in the League. I don't think that's never happened for the Toronto Maple Leafs, at least post-1967. Good times!
