Leafs @ Lightning - Dec. 29th, 7:30pm - SNO, Fan 590

A bunch of people didn't like Bowen much, but I liked him. He was a Leaf fan for sure.

They don't have a Leaf fan doing play by play at all anymore.

I'm ok with broadcasts where the play by play guy isn't a fan of either team.

I think too often it feels like they're more fans of whoever is playing the Leafs that night.

May be just me.

Gardiner Carrick having a tough night.

Lemieux had 69 goals and 160 points that season.

In 60 games.

Which for my money might be the most impressive season any athlete has ever had. I once saw it broken down as he had 100 points in his first 40 games, then had to miss 24 games to get treated for freaking cancer, then came back and had 60 points in his final 20 games.
By comparison David Clarkson had 11 points in 60 games in his first Leafs season.

It does seem to me that Romanuk likes to talk about the other team more than the Leafs.

Huh. You think it's connected to how the Refs are incredibly biased against the Leafs every night?

I KNOW, RIGHT!?

This looks every inch a game between two teams playing the second half of a back to back.

I imagine that's largely because you've become accustomed to more of a pro-Leaf biased announcer for non-HNIC games. When the pro-Leaf stuff is less pronounced, it'll seem like they're more supportive of the other team. I'd say they've been pretty even-handed most nights. Plenty praise for the Leafs when it's been deserved.

I like my regional broadcasts to be from my teams point of view with leaf goals called with a little more enthusiasm

There is literally nobody on earth with more financial incentive for people to be positively disposed towards the Leafs than the people who broadcast their games.
