Leafs @ Lightning - Dec. 29th, 7:30pm - SNO, Fan 590

"In those seasons Gilmore was one of the best players in the league, in the same vein as a Gretzky or a Lemieux."

Yeah ok I'll have whatever that guys having please.

92-94? Absolutely. The assists were on par with those two. Plus his two-way game was phenomenal. Those two playoff runs aged him ten years!

It's funny looking back at the stats from 92-93. Gilmour had 127 points and was only 8th in league scoring.

Ah, crap. JVR to the dressing room after a puck off the knee.

Back, must've been off the funny-bone :)

Those were two of the ugliest b2b PPs in the history of ugliness.

They have to be harder on the puck. One instance had one TB player against 3 Leafs in the corner and the Lightning player came out with it and almost had a clear path to Leaf net. Horrible.

It's somewhat impressive when all 6 Leafs on the ice can each look bad on a goal within like an 8-second span of time.

One thing that I've noticed a lot with the Leafs on the PP is when they lose an offensive zone draw the other team has such an easy avenue to clear the puck up the far boards because the Leafs only line-up with 1 defenceman roaming the blueline and it's always on the side where the draw was taken. It's clearly something other teams have made note of.

Lemieux had 69 goals and 160 points that season.

In 60 games.

Which for my money might be the most impressive season any athlete has ever had. I once saw it broken down as he had 100 points in his first 40 games, then had to miss 24 games to get treated for freaking cancer, then came back and had 60 points in his final 20 games.

How can you give up so many good opportunities while you're on the PP. Pathetic effort when they don't have the puck.
