Leafs @ Oilers - Mar. 3rd, 8:00pm - SN, TSN 1050

My prediction is:
Edmonton finally starts scoring. Andersen gets blamed. Leaf fans say he's worse than Hutchinson and want him traded. Book it.

Hah. I definitely think this game has the potential to be a bit of a letdown. McDavid isn't going to stay scoreless forever. Oh well, it'll give the "this team is the worst" crowd something to talk about for the first time in a couple weeks.

I like Barabanov's effort but 11GP 0G 0A and he has some opportunities up in the lineup during those games.  He needs to finish some of his chances if he wants to be in the lineup.

3rd goalie in 3 games now for the Leafs this mini-series.

Some of you will remember when Sundin would be out with an injury various lesser players "stepped up" and often they did pretty well.  But the first game back, the narrative always was that they were back to waiting for Mats to save them.

Yup, seen it many times. Let's hope the Leafs don't do that.

I know they can't, but I want them to win every game.  Would really suck not to complete the sweep after winning the first 2 without Matthews and Andersen.  Such is life, hope they can do it.

Yeah. Good speed, strong work ethic, no finish. We already have Mikheyev for that. ;D

In a 3 games series, 3 goalies, 3 shutouts would be pretty sweet.

It's like in Star Trek where the Enterprise modulates the phasers so that the Borg can't adjust their shields to them.

I'm willing to give Barabanov some leeway. He's playing on a smaller rink, in a foreign land, during a pandemic where getting to know your teammates may be more difficult. He looks real good the last couple games and you can see it coming. He's not going to be an elite point producer but he brings a similar game to Hyman.

Thank you to Sportsnet?s Joshua Lessard for the research: No team has ever shut out an opponent three straight times with three different goalies. Toronto?s Jack Campbell and Michael Hutchinson shut out Edmonton on Saturday and Monday. Hutchinson started the second of those games because Campbell ? just back from injury ? was banged up again, joining Frederik Andersen in the infirmary. (Joseph Woll backed up on Monday.)

Twice, however, one team has shut out another three different times during a season with three different goalies. The first was Montreal over Philadelphia in 1968-69 (Gump Worsley, Tony Esposito, Rogie Vachon); the second was Washington over Montreal in 2010-11 and 2011-12 (Braden Holtby, Michal Neuvirth, Tomas Vokoun). Jordan Binnington and Jake Allen combined for three in a row with the Blues in 2018-19.

Andersen getting a shutout against Edmonton this season would put the Leafs into exclusive company. Him getting a shutout tonight be historic.

That's on you, for calling it a jinx. Before that, it was just a factoid. :P

Yes you're probably correct. He'll never be a permanent fixture in the top two lines like Hyman. But he can fill in on the 3rd and will probably turn into a really good 4th liner. Judging by his KHL numbers he should provide a little offense at some point....I hope. I do have more patience for  him than I do for Vesey.

Agreed, I like his upside a lot, works hard, hair on fire is better than Veseys.

I think we should all remember when Mikael Tellqvist was our #1 Goalie and beachballs would beat him on a regular basis.  And pray.
