Leafs @ Rangers - Dec. 23rd, 7:00pm - SN, TSN 1050

Off the the CBA we go!

Looks like the answer is no. Within certain parameters, players can still be promoted/demoted. Since Bodie was recalled after December 11th and was not with the team for 30 days or played in 10 games since he last cleared waivers (he cleared waivers when he was sent back to the Marlies in November), he can be sent down by midnight tonight.

In that case I find it odd that Bodie hasn't been sent down yet. Maybe they'll forget and Orr will have to stay on the IR!

This is probably why:

jonasTSN1050: Orr tells me he's a game time decision, but seems near certain that he'll play.

Can they send him down immediately before a game though to make room for Orr? I always thought it was like a 5pm cut-off.

Bolthead Orr instead of Bodie the Bodyslammer?Ouch?.I don't have any problems with the Lone Ranger but would like to see Holland on the first line instead of the second and put Amazin Nazim on the 2nd line. We need to get Kessel and JVR going and Kadri seems to be like Grabbo was with them, ineffective.

There is. "Game time decisions" aren't always game time decisions. It's more that it's something that hasn't been decided on before the end of practice.

Aww man, don't play Ranger against the Rangers!  It's an obvious conflict of interest for him to play against his own people.  He's going to betray us, just you wait and see.

Grabovski wasn't ineffective with Kessel.

With justification we spend a lot of time talking about the bottom two lines.  But Kessel needs to get hot again, and Kadri could put one or two in as well.  Just looking at the MotM voting (which is probably about as valid as plus-minus), Kessel hasn't had an accolade in weeks and weeks.  If he's not scoring goals then he absolutely needs to at least win a puck battle or two per game.

Agreed.  And even if they aren't putting the puck in the net, I want them to look dangerous and create some chances.  A near-miss on a good-looking play may not count on the scoreboard, but it can fire a team up and rattle the other one.

Kessel's been robbed probably a dozen times in the last 5 or 6 games.  He's had some really good chances, maybe only a couple games in the past 15 or so where he hasn't.

I honestly don't think Kessel's been bad. 1 goal in 8 games, so the production isn't there, but he could have easily scored 5 or 6 in those games. He's shooting at 3.4% in that stretch, so the bounces just haven't been going his way. It's one of his patented cold streaks that he and all other top forwards go through from time to time. The goals will come. Unfortunately that will probably coincide with Bozak returning so people will incorrectly assume there's a correlation there.

I agree with all you guys have said about Kessel, and offensively he has looked dangerous ... although I think he cherrypicks sometimes, as evidenced by the several near-breakaways he's had recently.  (Incidentally, why we don't flip it out high to mid-ice more often, and then let PK try to track it down, is a mystery to me.  That's a good chaos-inciting play IMO.)

Nonetheless, he needs to start scoring.

I think that's a set play the Leafs are running with him and JVR. It's happened too many times for it to just be a coincidence.

I hate seeing the Leafs against Lundqvist becasue he will steal a win, but the Rangers are a lousy team so I hope  the Leafs win - it's a winnable game.

He's actually only got a career 2.65 GAA and .905 SV% in 23 games versus the Leafs, and he was facing some pretty poor Leafs teams for a good portion of those (his career SV% is .920).

jonasTSN1050: Colton Orr has been taken off injured reserve. As noted earlier, should expect him to play tonight alongside D'Amigo and Smithson.

Seems like they did this more when Ron Wilson was coaching, but it's making a comeback.

On a side note, where does everybody see Holland's ceiling?  He's doing what I hoped Kadri would do with Bolland and Bozak out.  He has looked pretty good creating plays, and not bad on defence either.

EDIT:  Go Leafs!!
