Leafs @ Rangers - Jan. 13th, 7:00pm - TSN4, TSN 1050

The Ranger broadcasters continuing this false narrative that it's the "young inexperienced" Leafs who have a hard time holding leads. When it's our vets that have let us down, case in point, JVR's delay of game penalty right there.

It's not an either/or. One of the reasons the Leafs have had trouble holding onto leads is some of their older players being forced to do things they wouldn't ordinarily do because the young guys aren't ready for certain roles.

Soshnikov has been great tonight IMO.

Mirtle made a point in an article today or yesterday that he's not showing anything really resembling the offence he did last year. I think that's mostly true, although I think he had more freedom late last season. But even still, he's basically the ideal 4th line for this day and age.

Hyman consistently does good things on the PK.

Our PK is in good hands if he, Brown, and Soshnikov are all sticking around long-term.

I think those three and Gauthier, if he can be the FO guy, would make for a really effective bunch.

I'd say we need at least 4 more goals in what remains of this period before we can feel good about our prospects in the third.

Got knocked down. Quiet room.
Slow to the bench. Quiet room.
Tripped and fell. Quiet room.
Skate lace untied. Quiet room.

So...a 2 goal lead. No issues here.

I say a Ranger goal either within the first 5 min or in the last 2...followed by the tieing goal of course....

I've really been impressed with Gauthier's offensive instincts. I don't know if he's got the tools to turn those instincts into goals with regularity but I think he'll be more effective in the offensive zone than the traditional 4th line checking center he was billed as.

Yeah, if any of the top 3 get injured he'll just move up. He has the instincts.

I'll be honest, I don't see much upside with Gauthier. Big, average at best skater with average at best hands. That's about it.
