Leafs @ Rangers - Jan. 13th, 7:00pm - TSN4, TSN 1050

The Marvelous One becoming an assist machine. And teams need to start fearing the Maple Leaf PP.

Also, Ottawa/Boston: we comin' fo you!

I have had more fun watching any random 10-minute stretch of this team than I did watching continuously the previous 5 years.

Hey Jake, take your hand off your stick and wrap it around the other guy they're going to call it. Complain all you want, but you might as well learn it.

It's Barney_Rebel's thing. 'We Rule Man' after the goal for and 'We Stink Dudes' after the goal against. He's been doing this forever and it's awesome.

Yes, thank you. I have noticed that in my many years and tens of thousands of posts here. My response was somewhat facetious as well.

So just chilling here before heading out for a victory beer.

Some thoughts:

Overall I felt 4-2 about was a fair result. The Leafs were better in the 1st, 2nd was even with maybe a shade towards the Rangers. First 10 minutes of the third the Leafs were too passive but at the same time I wasn't overly afraid they'd let it slip, they seemed in control and that was more the case as the third went on.

The penalty kill was very good. The guys were very good at disrupting and then finding lanes to ice the puck. Team is also very good at little deflections to get pucks out of the zone to relieve pressure. Felt like they really dominated the draw also.

JVR's goal was a thing of beauty. Marner may have been the most impressive player on the ice. The time he has is unreal.

Other players: Matthews has an incredible ability to find space. Always getting into gaps between the Rangers forwards and D and able to make plays.

Hyman does a lot of little things really well tat don't come across so well on TV. I can see why Babcock is a fan. At least 3 times he dug the puck off the boards and got it to Matthews in good position.

Gauthier is probably making that spot his for as long as he wants.  His skating looks a bit clumsy at times. But once he gets going he moves well. He's very strong on the puck. And his skill level is probably slightly above what we'd have had as at 4th line centre for as long as I've been watching the Leafs.

I really enjoyed that and I walked out of the place with a massive smile, that team is a joy to watch.
