I will say the Kadri line has played well this game with Clarkson on it.

Has it been Clarkson tonight? I think they've been rotating Kulemin and Raymond onto that line, as well.

Amazing thing is that you can search his name on Google news and not a single article criticizing him (that I found on a quick peruse).  Wonder how many other Leafs would get the same kid glove treatment from the media if they were playing this poorly?

The most criticism you really see of him is that "he's trying too hard to live up to the contract" or that the suspensions/injuries have thrown his entire season off the rails. He's definitely getting a free pass on the season in the media for the most part. I mean, everyone is saying the Leafs need more from him, but, they're also making plenty excuses for him.

He's far from being the worst defensive defensemen though.  Tonight excepted.

No, but, he's a much higher profile player than any of the defencemen who have had consistent struggles. Honestly, he's probably had the worst season of anyone on the team relative to salary and expectations.

Somebody needs to tell Nazem that that toe-drag thing works like 2% of the time in this league.

jonasTSN1050: Peter Holland has one shift so far in the second. Carlyle has mixed up his line combinations.

Quality bench management at its finest.

I don't consider fanning on a pass to be weak.  He tried a pass and it didn't work, doesn't make me feel any better about the goal to call him lazy or weak because it didn't work out.

You're comfortable with that attempt, ok.

Sorry, was this supposed to be directed at my Gleason comment? If so...

I mean, I would hope not considering he's the only true "defensive defenceman". But I'd still have him and Ranger battling out for the 6/7 spot. And with Ranger's improved play recently if the team had to go back to 6 defencemen it would be Gleason sitting if I was in charge (which I'm definitely not).

I'll give you 71 reasons why that sure isn't true.

Anyway, I don't see where he's having consistent struggles.  He's doing pretty much what they wanted him to.

I think you're talking about two different players.

Umm, I was talking about #71 in the post you responded to.
