That seems pretty likely. They pretty clearly had to do some housecleaning on the blueline anyway. Maybe someone is willing to take Timmonen.

I like it alot.  The Flyers just picked up the best offensive player on the market.  Think of it this way....Lecavalier > Briere,  Lecavalier's cap hit < Briere's cap hit.  With this signing & the Streit signing, & the addition by subtraction in goal....this team is already better than they were last year.  To pick up a guy like Vinny at $4.7mil. is good value against the cap.  The contract is 1 year longer than I would like; but, 4-5 years down the road...the cap should be higher, & the cap hit will be less impactful.

Also...I know in prior years you were able to go over the cap by a certain amount in the off season as long as a team was okay by day one of the season.  I don't know if that clause still exists.  If so...then the flyers have even more time to figure stuff out.

They can be 10% over until the end of training camp (I still think that's the case).

Pronger's $4.9 mil will go on LTIR to free up money.  They currently have 24 signed including 9 dmen so one dmen beyond Pronger will be waived/traded/whatever to free up a little more. They'll then need to sign RFA Gustafsson & a goalie and they may have close to $6 mil to do so.

That ignores the possibility of a trade which seems now more likely - as they've been looking to move a dman and they may have an excess young center to peddle.

Yeah, I have to say, I'm a little jealous.  He would have been a big boost to our team as well and I agree that contract is reasonable.  I might have tried to a bit higher cap for a bit less term, though.

There's a rumour that COL's asking price is Kulemin + Gunner + pick.  No idea whether that came from a legitimate source or not.  Just read it elsewhere.

Howard Berger threw that out there as a proposal. I guess it caught on as a rumour but I wouldn't put much stock in it.

Things should work out great provided Steve Mason continues his uninterrupted string of great seasons since his rookie year.
