Sarcasm and cliches aside, they are, in fact, a team that plays hard for the full 60 minutes, unlike the Leafs most nights.

Sarcasm and cliches aside, what would I post?

....right?

We can believe in what ever we like. LOL,

it is not that "Jinxes" actually exist, it is Karma and negative vibes that do.

In the minds of the gullible, yes.  Elsewhere, no.

My point was I'll have lots of beer to either celebrate or drown my sorrows.  It's the team's choice.

How is this team ahead of the Leafs?
It has to be their defense....because it definitely ain't that forward group.

I think this is partially why they have been so good.  People just don't pay attention to them.  They play in Florida so everyone assumes the team is comprised entirely of Stamkos, when in fact they have a number of good young players.  Their forward group for the most part is young with room to grow (Stamkos aside).  Their defense has some good younger players and a good mix of veteran leadership (Salo, Brewer).  And Bishop probably should be the US starter at the Olympics based on current play.  Instead he didn't even make the team.

Seriously?

You might want to take another look at Bishop's numbers.

That's kind of my point.  Is there anyone that would take Bishop over Bernier or even Reimer from a current year skill level?  I'm not sure.  If there is general agreement that we are at least equal on a skill front, then there has to be a different reason.

Their PK is as bad as ours.  Our PP is better.  Our offenses are relatively similar with our star player each producing at a pretty even rate.

There are some veteran defensemen on their team evenly split amongst all 3 pairings, whereas ours is much younger and inexperienced...that may be a contributor of the difference.  And as mentioned by others, they have an effective defensive system whereas the Leafs don't really have one (coaching related?).

Of course, but this is sports and not reality anyway.

Jinxes dont exist?

Why do hockey players all grow breads during playoffs,
Wear broken or riped T-shirts under their uniforms for every games. It is because they believe in good luck, and if they dont, they will not have good luck or be "Jinxed".  So your theory that Jinxes dont exist. Hmmmm, I bet if you were to ask the CHI Cubs they would all beg to differ!

If only teams that grow playoff beards win cups, explain the NY Rangers in '94?

I don't doubt that professional athletes are the superstitious types - many of them are.  Hell, I even have my traditions and superstitions whenever I either play a sport, or even when I perform a show with my band.  But I know, in the back of my my head that it's purely psychological and all it does is give me some sort of artifical peace of mind (which may, in fact, help me perform better).

That being said, whether or not you choose to wear a blue jersey or a white jersey tonight won't impact how the Leafs play tonight.  Whether someone on this board thinks the Leafs win or lose tonight won't actually impact if they win or lose.

As much as athletes are experts on soopernatural powers, it's psychological. I think your confusing magic with psychological preparation.

PS. Shutout for Bernier.

If everything people believed in and did something about actually existed, the world would be a much crazier place than it already is. Belief and action do not equal existence.

:) Ruiner...

It's not my fault. I also can't help but think of this scene from the Simpsons in relation to this whole jinx conversation.

Lisa, I'd like to buy your rock.

In all seriousness, it's one of the most prevalent forms of weirdness with people, having beliefs based on little to no evidence of any causal relationships... I mean, I pay the Tigger tax already, wtf?

But, but, but in the game I was at earlier I said at the start of the second period "I bet our goalie gets a shutout tonight" and 3 minutes later he conceded the only goal he conceded all night
