Marlies Talk 13/14

Sparks earned the game?s first star with his performance against Rochester and has now won his past six straight starts. In those games he?s compileds a 1.95 goals-against average and .934 save percentage.

Marlies clinched the Division for the third straight year apparently.

Steve Spott is surely the frontrunner for ahl coach of the year, this Marlies team was gutted in the off season and he's still managed to pull these results off with kids.

TJ Brennan is potentially league MVP too.

Anyone that's been to a recent Marlie game care to share how Knodel has looked? Any help for the D moving forward would be good news.

Yes right up there with Molten Orr and Freezer McLaren? the star is advocating bringup the Brolldozer, saying his playing on the top Marlies line and beating up people pretty good with his physical play?time to let some of the youngsters have a shot?

Actually we could look at our defense in the next two years:
Phaneuf/Gunnerson
Rielly/Gardner
Finn/ Percy
MacWilliam/Nodule
Holzer/Ranger
Not to shabby at all?so lets all give a round of goodbyes to Buffalo Bill Cody Franson & Jacky Gleason.

Brennan was named to the AHL's 1st all-star team today. Spencer Abbott was named to the 2nd.

Now, this Marlies team is one that you could actually get behind. Three straight division titles. Is that right?

Lets stop licking our wounds about the Leafs, they will improve there is no doubt.  We have a Marlies team to cheer so why don't we keep this thread active with the exploits of the Baby Buds?

Are there any current Leafs that can be sent down to the Marlies to help them for the stretch run and in the playoffs?

Molten Orr will melt the ice cap?send him to the neatherwold?and quickly before any more of our young players think you can be so inept as to make it to the big leagues. By Randy, by Colten, by Frazer M, and any other dolt heed that thinks playing for the Leafs is going to be easy, cause it ain't.

TJ Brennan named AHL defenceman of the year.

Fantastic, hopefully he gets a shot at the show next year.

Probably won't be with the Leafs if he does.

Strange scenario with TJ. He plays probably better than anyone could have hoped for with the Marlies this season (offensively speaking), but still doesn't get a single call up to see how he fits in with the big club.

If he isn't resigned, I guess the Leafs saw some poor defensive play they didn't like. Still seems very odd to me.

Might be a 'tweener' - too good for AHL, not good enough for NHL.  But he's a FA and there was talk that he really wanted to make the NHL this year from camp, so he's probably pretty upset he's named best D and never got into a single game all year.

I dunno about parsing his mood but, IIRC, the Leafs gave him some decent dough with the Marlies and a prominent role. Hopefully he looks at it as a well paid education and appreciates the opportunity and experience.
