Nashville to buyout Lebda

I'm curious, though.  McCabe is a free agent too, and probably wouldn't require more than the minimum.  I don't think he's formally retired yet.  Would he not be a better option?

(unless he's hoping for an injury on a "contender"...)

I think McCabe only has a small list of teams he'd be willing to play for (based on location for his wife). He is semi-retired it seems, and one might be able to argue his drive to win might not be all it once was.

Ouch I don't see why Nashville would throw in Franson with Weber and Suter coming to free agency.  I also don't see why they would throw away Lombardi when he was so close to coming back, what is wrong with their medical team?

to think there was a point I thought Poile would be a good GM for the Leafs...

I don't understand why people keep talking like Lombardi is a good player.  He currently has 8 points and is on pace for under 20 for the year.  He is currently 29 years old and has only scored more then 40 points 3 times in his career.  Its not like we stole an all-star from Nashville, we got an overpaid 3rd liner.

Because he is a good hockey player? In spite of having a tough time this year on the scoresheet there's more to hockey than that and the guy wasn't even on the radar with that noodle of his.

He's overpaid for what he's doing now, sure but he was a free agent when he got that contract and getting him also got the Leafs Franson.

If you consider someone with those point totals to be a good hockey player lets bring Colton Orr back.

53 points in his last full season (prior to his concussion). That put him in a tie for 33rd amongst all centres. That's pretty damn good.

Orr has a career high of 6 points.

Wow, just wow. Night and day, worlds apart wow. I sincerely question your ability to discern quality hockey.

You do realize that you don't have to be a high scoring hockey player to be a good hockey player, right?  Right?    :-\

As I do for you when you think Lombardi who is at best a 3rd liner; is good.

Then call him what he is a 3rd liner that is frankly overpaid.  He currently makes 3.5 million a year.  Jason Blake makes 4.0 million a year.  These 2 players are roughly the same skill set.  Blake is better offensively, and mixes it up physically more.  Lombardi is a bit better defensively and is faster.  If lombardi is a great player and good value, lets trade to get Blake back.

You're the one waxing hyperbole about Colton Orr, or maybe Grabovski is a flash in the pan, or zzzzzzzzzzzz....

Blake is like a billion years old. What an insane comparison.

Former Leaf released from AHL team. RT @JonathanWillis: Lebda had 11 assists and a minus-12 rating in 27 games with Rockford.

not sure where Lebda will go from getting cut by an AHL team ...

Just remember: We signed this guy to a 2 year deal after he was a healthy scratch for 1/4 of the year on Detroit.
