New York Rangers vs Washington Capitals

Wow, that has to be a hard one if you are a Habs fan.  Ryan McDonagh played 53 minutes tonight.

After almost 6 periods, the shots were only 49-46 Rangers.  What a couple of boring teams.  The Caps did the ol' Lightning v Flyers thing whenever the Rangers had it in their end.  I know if it gets you wins that's all that matters, but I can still find it awful to watch.

It must suck to be a long time follower of the Caps.  I never remember any Caps team winning an OT game that was triple OT or better, and they've been through a few that I remember.

Guess we should be expecting a long suspension for repeat offender Ovie  similar to Torres??  Yeah I know no chance.

Left feet and hit head like he has been suspended for before.  Doesn't that sound illegal and repeat offender??  Yet in other division Klesla has a hearing for a hockey play??

And rightfully so. 2 minute penalty.

Yup. I don't like him leaving his feet but I don't think he was targeting the head, looked like the shoulder.

There have been a few hits this post season that have been quite similar and all but 1 ended with no suspension, the one got 25 games??  How is that anywhere near reasonable or fair?

On Halischuk? C'mon.

Throwing somebody into the boards from behind is a hockey play? Okie doke.

At the initial point of contact, the hit is shoulder-to-shoulder and Ovechkin still has a foot on the ice. Those things matter when it comes to dealing out suspensions. Also, Giradi got up without any real problems and whether we like it or not that matters too.

Klesla was "taking" Halischuk to the boards and Halischuk tried to stop short and was pushed forward.  He wasn't being crosschecked or even checked.  This play happens 20 times a night but normally the person being followed just goes with the direction and gets played against the boards.  The play went wrong when Halischuk tried to hold up.  Halischuck doesn't have blame here but it is a hockey play that went wrong. In game 2 in Phoenix Boullion left feet and hit Boyd Gordon in head with an elbow.  He didn't even get a call from Shanny.  NHL discipline has become an even bigger joke than it was in the past and that's quite an accomplishment.

Carlton you are really out to lunch with this feet on the ice thing.  He was 6 inches off the ice!!!  And if he hit his shoulder I doubt Girardi has a cut in the middle of his forhead.  And if you look at the Torres hit he actually did have a foot on the ice when contact was made with Hossa but hey don't let the facts get in the way.

Well, lets keep in mind Klesla hasn't been suspended for anything just yet.

This is true but why would there even be a hearing??  There have been many worse plays this off season than the Klesla one that did not require a hearing.  The players generally seem to be OK with these big dangerous hits as they keep doing them pretty much every night so I'm not sure why NHL seems to pick and occasional one and deal with it??
