I agree. Really, I hold it against all the outdoor games that aren't the Winter Classic or the Heritage Classic. The rest of the "Stadium Series" are the issue.

Maybe but, thing is, I don't know what it's like to go to one of these games. Maybe it's a lot of fun. It sure looked like the fans were having a good time.

So while I agree that, as someone who watches these games on television, the novelty wears pretty thin after a few games there's a part of me that thinks that so long as these games only happen once a year in a particular city the experience of going to them might stay pretty fresh. What with our HD screens and cheaper snacks it seems like the live experience is fading from a lot of fans' lives these days and, in light of that, it's hard to fault the League for building experiences around the fun and novelty of actually going to a game.

I thought that the game was terrific, especially how well the Leafs played with the difficult conditions, including the snow, and cold, etc.

Bernier stole that game once again.  He should be considered by Carlyle to be the no. 1 (but with RC who really knows?).

I also thought it was great that the Leafs came back so well after the first Detroit goal, and were really taking it to the Wings for periods of that game.

And two terrific shots by Bozak and Lupul in the shoot-out were the difference.  (In fact, it might have been the case that Bozak was aware that Howard let in that Lupul shot between his legs, and then went for the far post anticipating Howards' reaction).

It should be interesting to see the final 24/7 show, and what the players were saying on the ice during some of those plays.

A gimmick decided by a gimmick, how fitting. How many more of these games are left to play this year? 4? Another 3 point game...

I agree, but in a much more positive way.  ;)

I was there.  Had a great view.  It was a lot of fun.  Bozak, JVR, Kessel, Rielly, Phaneuf and Bernier all looked best in the game to me.  Pretty surreal seeing the number of people, more people than my entire hometown.

EDIT: Also, I'm pretty sure they were counting 2 shots for every 1 Detroit had.  Or that's how it seemed.

Does anyone know where you could watch the winter classic?  I was there and by mistake pvr'd the alumni game instead of the classic.  Cant find the actual game anywhere.  Thanks if anyone has a link or knows if it is being replayed anywhere.

From ESPN:

The NHL sold 105,491 tickets to the Winter Classic on New Year?s Day. But cold and snow made driving and parking difficult, kept some fans from entering Michigan Stadium until the second period and caused problems with the counting procedures. Guinness World Records will count only those fans who actually attended, along with some media and officials, and it is still working on the final figure. When the world record was set at a college game at the Big House in 2010, Guinness originally certified 85,451. About a month later, it certified 104,073. It finally settled on 104,173.
