That actually makes a lot of sense for both clubs. Except he's out indefinitely with a groin injury. Leafs need someone to step in now.

Nikolai Khabibulin was back on the ice Friday after tweaking his groin early in the week.
The Oilers goaltender is unlikely to play Saturday against the Phoenix Coyotes, but by all indications could be back next week, if he's still around.

I've heard the Liles comparison before. How could he be the next Liles when he's already better than Liles after only 50 games in the league? Niedermayer may be a stretch, but his ceiling looks to be pretty darn high. I'd only move him if it was a major upgrade at some position and there was no other way around it. Like it or not, we may see it happen this week-end.

Another option, Nabokov, if Isles decide otherwise.
Kings willing to trade Dustin Brown but demands are high.

Why would the leafs want an almost retired goalie with a wankie groin? if Burke make a deal for him, I will be the first to call for his head.

Because he's a better option than we currently have?

No he is not.

I'd still welcome a Nash trade, but I'd hate to see us go after a patchwork solution like Khabibulin or give up too much for someone like Brown.

A patchwork in goal is what the Leafs need right now until they can sort out their long term #1 position. Maybe it's still Reimer but he's not playing like it right now and could use a veteran to help out. With only 1 year left on Khabibulin what's the risk? Leafs have summer and next season to sort out their long term goalie plan and in the meantime he MAY help us into the playoffs now.

Because the Islanders are trying to re-sign Nabokov, not trade him.
