Official Ottawa Senators Thread

Two goal debut for Alex Burrows in the Senators win last night on home ice.

Plus, Ottawa defenceman Erik Kaarlson's 311th consecutive game played.

That's a pretty steep price to pay for Burrows. Dahlen is a pretty good prospect.

Adding an extension so he'd waive the ntc, I'd imagine. Seems like bad money on top of losing assets.

I was surprised at how old Burrows is. How good is Dahlen in your estimation? Equivelent in worth to say, Kasperi Kapanen, or a better prospect?

He has been compared to a Filip Forsberg or David Pastrnak though not in size.  His pluses are that he is quick & agile, can circling around the defence, has good hands and a decent shot.  His downside is his size in terms of using the body (or physicality),  speed and his defensive side.  Also could develop a better shot repertoire.

Sounds like a prospect with plenty of potentials.  And a lot of what ifs.

Comparison to Filip Forsberg eh? Maybe they could have talked Afraidson out of retirement instead, and not given up Dahlen. Burrows is almost as old. I hope this backfires.

Wonder if this behind-the-scenes drama will begin to affect the team's performance on the ice, (i.e. distraction psychologically, sense of tension, etc.), in this crucial last stretoh of the season?

Melnyk is truly like Harold Ballard.

The lawsuits that could've been leveled at Harold Ballard in his day...

1500 fewer seats...ouch.

What i like about this is that those are going to figure to be general admission tickets. So it's basically just fewer Leafs fans and empty seats.

The Senators also renovated some of the banners hanging in their arena in an effort to ?reflect the appropriate look and feel of those teams.?

The Sens have banners hanging? Aw, how cute!

Sure. The Senators have banners to commemorate the Stanley Cup Championships of 1920, 1921, 1923 and 1927. Which is sort of like me having a kid, naming him Horatio and giving him credit for defeating Napoleon.

See, I think the action in and of itself is funny enough. Like, The Ottawa Senators commemorating their Cup Championships of the 1920's is sort of like...The Ottawa Senators commemorating their Cup Championships of the 1920's!

Huh, well that sure is strange since they didn't have a problem getting him cleared for their playoff run.

Dorian announced today that Boucher won't be getting fired which, I don't know, seems like a weird thing to do.

On a side note, apparently Dorian has said it's virtually certain they'll be hanging onto this year's pick which means that next year they will be the most fun team in the league to root against.

Given that they've admitted that they need to rebuild/retool, and I don't think I've read anywhere that Boucher was the problem at all...so yeah, pretty weird.

I wonder if there's less appetite to expedite a Karlsson trade if they want to stay out of the basement...it would be super funny if they lotteried themselves into a top 1-2-3 pick next season.

I hope they lose bad, and often.
